**POSITION VACANCY**: District Stroke Manager
**POSITION**: Permanent Full Time Clinical Manager
**HOURS OF WORK**: Monday to Friday - Days, participate in on-call rotation
**JOB SUMMARY**:
Reporting to the Emergency, Medicine and Stroke Program Director, the District Stroke Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating stroke care priorities within Waterloo Wellington with health service providers across the full continuum of care (primary prevention/health promotion, pre-hospital, acute care, rehabilitation, community reintegration and secondary prevention), in alignment with the broader regional stroke network work plan. As a known leader for best practice stroke care within the district, they deliver on the mandate of Waterloo Wellington’s district system responsibilities by contributing their expertise and insight into the development and implementation of a cross-continuum district work plan, in collaboration with key system partners to improve access and quality of stroke services and outcomes for patients within Waterloo Wellington. Included in the role of the District Stroke Manager is the operational oversight of the Secondary Stroke Prevention Clinic, the Urgent Neurology Clinic, Adult Diabetes Education Clinic, EMG and EEG services as well as the Telemedicine service.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
- Member in good standing with a college recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act
- Minimum three years of healthcare leadership experience preferred
- Recent experience (within the past two years) working with stroke patients or within the Waterloo Wellington stroke system preferred
- Strong communicator and proven ability to facilitate timely resolution of patient and family issues in collaboration with the team
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to patient-focused care philosophy
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead effective multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work with frontline staff to identify, promote and resolve quality issues
- Ability to implement change management processes for quality improvement and system advancement
- Ability to implement and manage unit-specific HR functions such as employee rewards, recognition, discipline, and conducting performance reviews
- Good attendance record
- Experience using computer software programs, e.g., MS Word, Excel and electronic mail
