The Gathering Place Full Time

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain control of the front door, ensuring that it is always locked
- Greet Guests who present at the door, checking to see if they are expected for the night or alerting staff to individuals who are not expected so that they can do necessary follow up
- Ensure traffic flow during intake that is consistent with covid precautions; provide Guests with a mask and hand sanitizer before entering the building; review covid screening questions with Guest and inform staff of any Guest who responds positively
- Remain vigilant for behaviours or actions that could become a safety concern for Guests or staff
- Provide support on the floor for the Case Manager and/or Guest Support, assisting staff in de-escalation as necessary
- Complete regular safety checks in the shelter space (sleeping area, porches, bathrooms and front exterior);
- Accompany staff as outlined in “Working Alone” policy as necessary
- Any other duties specified by the Team Lead

**Qualifications/Responsibilities**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form relationships with marginalized persons
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Effective communication, both written and verbal
- An understanding of harm reduction and principles of person centred care
- Sound judgement and solid problem solving skills
- Sensitivity to diversity issues
- Ability to maintain clear and consistent boundaries with Guests
- Clear Record of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset

Shifts will be Saturday 8pm - 8am & Sunday 8pm-8am
