**Position Summary**:
The Program Manager is responsible for overall management and leadership of the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate, Vocational Firefighter Programs (Exterior Firefighting Operations, Interior Firefighting Operations and Full Service Firefighting Operations) programs, and courses that relate to accredited (Pro Board and IFSAC) professional qualifications and professional continuing education offered as tuition deliveries. The Program Manager also supports the daily operational needs of the Maple Ridge Campus for Fire & Safety Division (FSD) tuition course deliveries

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager is a member of the Division’s Operations Team and is responsible for the leadership, management and evaluation of the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate and Vocational Firefighter Programs (Exterior, Interior, and Full Service Firefighter Operations) meeting British Columbia’s Minimum Training Standards for Firefighters. The Program Manager is also responsible for ensuring accreditation (IFSAC and Pro Board) is maintained for course/programs meeting NFPA Professional Qualifications. The Program Manager supports the strategic direction of the JIBC through the design and implementation of appropriate programming; human resource leadership and management, and, faculty development. The Program Manager directly supervises the work of (1) Program Planner and (2) Program Assistants. This position provides supervision and guidance to all faculty in this program area.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field (education, leadership, fire service administration); or an equivalent
combination of education, experience, and training.
- 3‐5 years of experience managing, planning and delivering training in face‐to‐face, blended and online training
environments, and/or experience as a Training Officer in a fire department;
- Experience and knowledge with the BC Fire Service;
- Experience developing and managing program budgets;
- Experience supervising unionized and non‐unionized staff;
- Content expertise in the field of leadership, adult education, and fire service training;
- Progressive training and experience with a municipal fire service, and a recognized leader in the field of training;
- Experience and involvement with Occupational Health & Safety Committees is a definite asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Sound knowledge of the BC post‐secondary educational system;
- Demonstrated project management skills;
- Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills;
- Highly motivated, independent self‐starter who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment;
- Ability to work effectively and maintain professional relations with the public, faculty, staff, students and
stakeholders;
- Effective interpersonal and problem‐solving abilities;
- Strong organizational and planning skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize and multi‐task.
Professional/Technical Accreditations:

- NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter II and NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Awareness & Operations Levels, or equivalent
knowledge and experience
- NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level II or equivalent knowledge and experience.
