**OVERVIEW**
**Anawim House provides safe, substance-free drop-in support services and rehabilitative programming within a residential setting for individuals striving to overcome homelessness, poverty, and addiction. The Program Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring the home remains safe, structured, and aligned with the Society’s mission.**
Anawim House offers communal living for seven men who, through a variety of life circumstances, have experienced or are currently experiencing trauma, poverty, or addiction and are at risk of homelessness. The Program Manager works closely and directly with program participants as they transition from homelessness, poverty, and addiction toward family and community life—housed, healthy, and free from addictive lifestyles.
This position requires a strong leader who can foster a warm and supportive communal environment, utilizing conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and resolution skills. The Program Manager facilitates connections between participants and staff, as well as with external counselors, social services, and community resources.
This role is well suited for someone with experience delivering community social services who seeks to work with a small group in a communal living setting, where participants are individually and collectively working toward long-term goals.
The Program Manager reports to the Executive Director. This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote work.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Staff & Volunteer Leadership**: Recruit, supervise, and support staff and volunteers to ensure professional, consistent, and high-quality service delivery.
**Participant Support**: Oversee resident care, lead case planning, ensure access to supports, and foster accountability and structure within the home.
**Program Development**: Design and implement relevant life skills and recovery programs; guide staff in program delivery.
**Intake & Occupancy**: Manage intake and assessment, maintain occupancy, and ensure transparent, fair processes.
**Financial Oversight**: Monitor expenses, submit monthly reconciliations, and support budgeting and donation tracking.
**Administrative Operations**: Oversee documentation, scheduling, communications, inventory, and policy implementation.
**Community Engagement**: Build partnerships, represent The Society at events, and support fundraising and volunteer outreach.
**Facility Maintenance**: Ensure the home remains clean, safe, and functional; coordinate maintenance as needed.
**On-Call Support**: Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation to respond to emergencies and urgent matters.
**Other Duties**: Support the Executive Director with tasks that further The Society’s Mission.
**EXPERIENCE**
- Extensive experience in the non-profit community social services sector, supporting individuals facing homelessness, poverty, addiction, and/or mental health challenges, along with a strong background in staff supervision and leadership roles
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices in case management, program planning and evaluation, financial management, property management, conflict resolution, arbitrations, personnel recruitment and development, community development, and contract reporting.
- Demonstrated conflict mediation and resolution skills as well as crisis intervention
- Experience planning and directing special projects.
**EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**

- Post secondary Degree or Diploma in a related human/social service field program which may include mental health and substance use; a combination of related experience and education may be considered
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead with warmth, compassion and a cheerful positive outlook
- Facilitates positive communal adult relationships while respecting personal and professional boundaries expected from leadership.
- Exceptional listening and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of community social service resources
- Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check required prior to commencement of employment
- Current certification in Food Safe, CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and Naloxone training is preferred. Applicants without all certifications may still be considered.
- Proficiency with standard office computer software
- Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize work
- Ability to use a collaborative approach to problem solving
**- Valid Class 5 driver’s license required**

**PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED**:
