**Medical Office Administrator/Chart Preparer**
**PACE CARDIOLOGY (NEWMARKET & BARRIE CLINICS)**
The Medical Office Administrator/Chart Preparer will be involved in a wide range of tasks including administrative, front office and other clinical involvements. They support physicians, nurses, technologists and other staff in administrative tasks. They also provide necessary information to visitors and patients, regarding the operational procedures of the clinic.
**Job Requirements**:
- Graduate with a Medical Office Administrator diploma/certificate
- Medical office experience necessary
- Medical terminology required
- OHIP and other insurance billing experience is an asset
- Current BCLS certification required
- Must be able to meet the physical and cognitive demands
- Valid driver’s license and to travel to other locations
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
- Work according to company procedures and policies
**Job Specific Competencies**
**Administrative Expertise**:
- Patient registration and demographic confirmation
**General office responsibilities**:
- Reception, telephone and fax management
- Filing and uploading documents
- Opening or closing office tasks
- Medical record and documentation processing and management:
- Requesting medical or pharmacy records
- Processing physicians’ orders
- Patient booking (internal and external appointments):
- Schedule and communicate appointments to patient
- Explain procedures and testing or appointment instructions
- Coordinate with technicians to arrange urgent add on testing
- Assist with patient appointment cancellation notifications
- Assist physicians with patients as needed
- Demonstrate commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public:
- Explaining procedures to the patients and visitors
- Answer questions and connect individual with appropriate resource
- Ability to work in a continuously changing environment.
**Technical Expertise**:
- General computer literacy
- Competency with EMR systems -if applicable:
- Cerebrum (Pace Cardiology)
- Horizon HPF (Southlake Regional)
- Meditech (Royal Victoria Hospital)
- Oscar -Lab Information System (McMaster)
- Connecting Ontario Clinical Viewer (eHealth Ontario)
**Familiarity with Microsoft**:
- Word
- Excel
- PowerPoint
- Other technologies -if assigned:
- Ontario Telehealth Network scheduling and set up
- Back up drive management
- Ensure that office equipment is well kept and in good working order
**Professionalism**:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, telephone)
- Demonstration of the ability to work as an integral member of a health care team
- Perform all duties with Patient Centred focus including protecting patient privacy and ensuring patient safety
- Works in conjunction with other team members to prioritize, co-ordinate and complete area workload.
- Ability to prioritize and accommodate urgent requests
- Ability and confidence to work independently and act as a resource on behalf of the department.
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and independently within a fast-paced clinic

This job is for our Newmarket and Barrie PACE Clinics, you may be required to travel between locations and work at both sites.
**Salary**: From $18.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
