**Manager in Training**. This role will support our stores in
** **the
**Kitchener/Cambridge** market.
The Manager in Training (MIT) is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in creating an excellent customer experience and a positive work environment for the team. They are responsible for helping achieve sales and profit objectives through the use of effective hiring, training, coaching and development, organization, and overall management of operations.
**This position provides managerial development for the eventual role of Store Manager.**

**What You Will Do**
- Motivate your team to deliver on customer experience, obtain sales targets, meet store goals, and merchandising standards. Your passion for design is matched only by your dedication to your people and their current success.
- Coaching and motivating your team to inspire top performance and an exceptional customer experience
- Identifies developmental needs of associates and provides training, coaching, and development
- Display a focused approach to operational excellence and optimize management of ‘controllables’ such as labour, inventory, and shrink.
- Maintains awareness of market trends and competitors. Works to enhance profits by contributing to growth and revenue opportunities while suggesting cost containment measures
- Maintain high store standards by keeping our spaces beautiful, clean, stocked, organized, and merchandised.
- Under the direction of the Store Manager, perform additional projects/duties/assignments as required and/or by request

**What You Bring**
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in retail leadership required
- Access to reliable transportation with the ability to commute to the 2 store locations
- Experience with leading, coaching, and developing a team
- Eagerness to develop in a long-term role at Urban Barn
- Strong business acumen and a dedication to achieving key metrics
- Proficient on a sales register and/or computer system
- Availability to work Full-time and a variety of shifts (i.e. weekdays, weeknights, and weekends)
- Capacity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Ability to lift/move stock weighing up to 50 lbs.
