Through collaboration across fields such as child psychiatry, psychology, epidemiology, pediatrics, policy development, social work, and nursing, the Offord Centre’s aim is to better understand children’s mental health with the overall goal of improving the lives of children and youth. Staff and faculty at the Offord Centre for Child Studies are ambitious and strive for research excellence by engaging in meaningful community and policy connections through research. One of our goals as a centre is to be internationally renowned among the public as well as those in research, service and policy leadership for our expertise and generation of evidence in child and youth mental health. Other primary goals include fund development, knowledge translation and exchange, and global collaborations. We plan to meet these goals and uphold our mission, vision, values, and EDI commitment with the support of our staff and trainees, including our academic and non-academic partners around the world. **General Description**: Organizes and performs a full range of administrative duties for an academic unit/department that requires a thorough understanding of departmental organization, functions, policies and procedures. Supervises and coordinates an administrative team within the department **Representative Duties & Responsibilities**: - Monitor and maintain project budgets. - Monitor and reconcile account expenditures to ensure compliance with funding agency requirements. - Hire, allocate, and evaluate administrative team members. - Process agreements and contracts from various agencies and obtain appropriate signatures. - Assist with negotiations with suppliers or contractors for best prices and services by gathering applicable information. - Organize and coordinate special events including arranging venue, catering, and audiovisual equipment. - Liaise with students, staff, faculty, and external organizations and professionals. - Update and maintain program or departmental websites. - Create and maintain spreadsheets, forms, or databases to input, track, store, and retrieve data. - Design tables or charts to illustrate data. - Provide detailed information to students, staff, and faculty. - Attend and participate in meetings. Take meeting minutes. - Collect, enter, deliver, verify and manage data. - Adhere to established deadlines and schedules. - Complete financial forms such as travel expense reports, advances and electronic cheque requisitions, payroll, purchase orders and journal entries. - Gather and compile information for spreadsheets and reports. - Set up and maintain filing systems, both electronic and hard copy. - Assemble, copy, collate, and distribute documents and packages. - Schedule and coordinate meetings including room bookings, agendas, catering and travel arrangements. - Set up audiovisual equipment and teleconference calls. - Monitor, arrange repairs, and order supplies and office equipment. - Maintain confidentiality of information. **Supervision**: - Supervise and direct the activities of up to 4 continuing employees. **Qualifications**: - Bachelor's degree in a related field. - Requires 5 years of relevant experience, including one year of supervisory experience. **How to Apply**: **Employment Equity Statement** McMaster University is located on the traditional territories of the Haudenosaunee and Mississauga Nations and within the lands protected by the “Dish With One Spoon” wampum agreement.
