LUS Brands (“Love Ur Self”) is a Toronto-based DTC (direct-to-consumer) hair care brand that’s backed by Y Combinator, Sound Ventures, Comcast and other notable VCs and angel investors.
Since launching in 2017, we have shipped over 4 million bottles of our innovative curly hair care products to consumers with curly hair worldwide and earned thousands of 5-star reviews. Our mission is as simple as the products we create: to encourage people to genuinely love and accept themselves so that their unique beauty can shine through.
LUS brands was built to a significant size in less than five years, using predominantly social media marketing. While we have remained almost exclusively DTC for the first several years of operations, this year, we’re looking to expand to new sales and distribution channels, including professional hair salons.
**About the role**
The Sales Executive, Professional Hair Care, will oversee the expansion and management of our DTS (Direct-to-Salon) business. You will be directly responsible for setting and attaining sales targets. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the beauty industry, is self-motivated, sales-oriented and driven to meet and exceed sales goals to contribute to the growth and distribution of LUS Brands.
**Responsibilities**:
- Manage the day-to-day of the salon channel; this includes lead generation, follow-up with existing clients (physical and virtual), prospecting, sales pitches and presentations, product education and account management
- Consistently meet or exceed all sales targets and other KPIs by opening new accounts, upselling to current clients, and ensuring accounts have a robust sales strategy growth plan
- Develop and oversee budgets and forecasts for the salon channel
- Ensure measurement tools, KPIs and project tracking systems are in place and effectively being used to optimize the business and report insights to leadership
- Drive sales by leveraging entrepreneurial spirit to build a loyal customer base
- Utilize sales intelligence to recommend strategies for growth
- Effectively manage and prioritize time to complete administrative activities such as; lead follow-ups, client calls, growth strategy plans for accounts and account management support
- Attend and manage booths/displays in industry trade shows (i.e. Cosmo Prof), if required
- Keep abreast with industry, competitive, and market trends and best practices
Required Skill and Experience:
- Minimum five years of experience in a B2B sales role and account management
- Tech and digital savvy (experience with tools and platforms like Shopify, Klavyio, Zendesk, Grin, Monday, MS Office, G-Suite is a great asset)
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ‘building something out of nothing’
- Think outside the box, come up with creative solutions to problems, figure-things-out mentality
- Professional Hair Care experience is preferred but not required
- Exceptional communication (written and oral) and sales presentation skills
- Ambitious self-starter and self-learner with a passion for the beauty industry and hair care products
- Ability to work individually while fostering good relationships with clients, managers and team members
- Eager to prospect, develop territories and strategies, as well as deliver detailed sales presentations/proposals
- Ability to portray a confident and winning attitude in challenging business interactions.
- Strong negotiation skills (experience with contract negotiations a plus)
- Experience working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial/start-up environment preferred; at ease working in a continuously changing environment
- This is a fully remote role; however, some travel may be required (to our head office in Toronto and/or client locations)
