Midaynta Community Services is looking to hire a full-time Social Media Engagement

Facilitator for the Youth in Community Services Program. Through the Youth in

Community Services (YICS) program, a three-phase community initiative was developed to empower minority and racialized youth by giving them the tools to increase their skills, support their community and learn civic engagement. As the program is split into three parts, the objectives for the project will help give a more holistic learning experience for the youth through skill building workshops, development and execution of community initiatives, and development of a social media initiative aimed at promoting civic engagement and democratic engagement in the community.

***: The organization is seeking to hire **One Full-Time Social Media**
**Engagement Facilitator for the Youth in Community Service (YICS) Program.** The goal of this position is to empower minority and racialized youth by giving them the tools to increase their skills, support their community and learn civic engagement through the usage and development of social media initiatives and campaigns.

: The Program goal is to help youth create lasting and sustainable change within their communities. The Social Media Engagement Facilitator role will support in recruiting youth participants to attend a series of eight training workshops over 4 weeks. The Social Media Engagement Facilitator will coordinate the development of a Media and Social Media initiative aimed at promoting civic engagement and democratic engagement and will support the youth participants in creating volunteer projects on their chosen initiatives in achieving sustainable changes within their communities. Finally, the Social Media Engagement Facilitator will engage with the public and other youth on the online space; as well as help the youth showcase their work through a symposium open to the public.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the listed knowledge and abilities would be:

- Completion of Bachelors in social science, sociology and psychology or closely related courses
- Two years of relevant experience in social media and content creation is greatly preferred.
- Experienced in utilizing diverse social media platforms, including but not limited to,

Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook;
- Deep understanding of social media content creation;
- Knowledge on current social media trends and designs;
- Strong understanding of the specialized needs of Black youth who may be experiencing challenges related to anti-Black racism, such as mental health, addictions, trauma, relationship violence, human/sex trafficking and/or involvement in criminal activities;
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the life and needs of the racialized youths in underserved communities combined with previous community development experience;
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check will be required prior to commencing position;
- Extensive knowledge of facilitating and coordinating social media accounts and content creation.
- Excellent youth engagement skills;
- Knowledge of the challenge/barriers that the youth have encountered and a comprehensive understanding of the family dynamics in the Northwest Toronto;
- Cultural competency with diverse populations;
- Knowledge of information sharing practices and protocols;
- Professional communication, organization and interpersonal skills;
- Able to work from an anti-oppressive and anti-racist framework;
- Experienced in communication and workshop facilitation skills;
- Ability to work with diverse staff, participants, and community resources;
- A positive attitude that includes creativity and flexibility;
- Knowledge of program development and evaluation;

1. To coordinate the social media outreach and promotion of the workshops that focus on providing the youth with the opportunity to learn from different experts and community leaders on topics ranging from building leadership skills to working with communities of different backgrounds and cultural sensitivity.

2. Create and facilitate civic engagement social media campaigns with youth participants.

3. To teach the youth how to successfully promote their events on social media platforms.

4. To maintain, through appropriate communication and coordination, a collective working relationship with other professionals both within and outside of the organization.

5. To recruit youth participants for the workshop series and coordinate social media civic engagement and campaigns effectively.
