Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.
**ROLE**
The Manager, Emergency Services & Patient Flow is responsible for improving patient quality and safety across Muskoka Algonquin Health Care, and for the coordination and provision of patient care at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital sites of Muskoka Algonquin Health Care. In addition, the Manager is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the multi site Supervisor role and Bed Allocator.
Responsibilities of this role include;
- Plan, organize and direct the day-to-day activities within the departments outlined, take an active role in ensuring smooth daily operations at both sites and be a liaison with the clinical leaders at both sites.
- Developing, monitoring and analysing metrics that pertain to patient safety, utilization and fiscal sustainability within their departments
- Ensure that the nursing care provided is patient and family centred, effective, efficient, quality focused and accepted ethical and professional nursing practises are in accordance with standards, policies and procedures of the hospital and all regulating bodies.
- Take an active role in furthering and fostering the goals and objectives of the organization.
- Foster a collaborative working relationships necessary amongst staff, other hospital departments, community partners, patients and physicians to achieve and maintain high quality services.
- Provide support and /or lead select committees at MAHC
- Lead portfolio related projects, developing project charters, project timelines and plans and metrics. Coaching team members, demonstrating MAHC values and accountability for project deliverables and regular reporting.
- Monitor, analyze and act upon monthly financial and quality management indicators to ensure appropriate service and resource utilization.
- Create an environment that is conducive to high morale and motivates staff toward realization of departmental and organizational goals.
- Responsible for encouraging professional development of staff and self development.
- Create schedules that meet the requirements of the union contract but allow nurses the maximum work-life balance possible in a 24/7 environment.
- Maintain up-to-date statistical information regarding efficiency and effectiveness of the department, organization, and quality improvement activities.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing practices and patient outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing initiatives to enhance performance.
- Assist in the development and planning of any consolidation or expansion of patient care programs to enhance the provision of effective and efficient care.
**REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)**
- Undergraduate degree in nursing or equivalent.
- Recognized credentials in Emergency /Critical Care nursing.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses on Ontario.
**REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)**
- Minimum of 6 years of current progressive professional experience as a Registered Nurse with a focus in Emergency / Critical Care nursing.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of current progressive management/leadership experience, an asset.
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- Evidence based decision making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong focus on emotional intelligence and ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
- Conflict management skills.
- Ability to work within a multi-site organization and consider organizational goals when making decisions.
- Ability to adapt to and foster change.

- Dedicated to professional and leadership development, self-aware.
- Sound financial management/budgeting skills.
- Ability to coach and develop team members and colleagues.
**DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION**
- Master’s degree an asset.
