Position Overview:
**Key duties and responsibilities**
- Assists in the development and implementation of sustainable transportation programs, projects and initiatives that work toward achieving the goal of reducing the mode share of daily trips made by personal vehicle. This includes non-infrastructure recommendations of the Cycling Master Plan (2013) and Active Transportation Network Study (2017).
- Executes educational outreach and promotion programs and supports community events and activities such as the Tour de Guelph, Car Free Day, Clean Air Day and other events that include a sustainable transportation component.
- Serves an advisory, facilitation and advocacy support role to the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Active and Safe Routes to School Committees and provide supplemental support as needed to Guelph area schools to encourage walking to school.
- Works with Guelph Transit and Youth Services to facilitate increased use of transit and its integration with cycling and walking in Guelph.
- Coordinates and liaises with other government agencies, residents, institutions, businesses and other stakeholders to advance Sustainable Transportation projects and related strategic objectives of the City.
- Assists with updating policies and bylaws to reflect new facilities and programs, as needed.
- Maintains relationships with community groups and stakeholders to raise community awareness and promote community participation in TDM sustainable transportation initiatives and events.
- Provide assistance with public consultations on specific sustainable transportation projects when required.
- Prepares committee/council reports, recommendations and presentations as required.
- At times may represent the City of Guelph on various regional and national committees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and requirements**
- Knowledge of urban sustainable transportation practices and philosophies.
- Experience in one or more of the following would be considered an asset: educational outreach and awareness, community-based social marketing, and/or public engagement.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work with various stakeholders, including provincial and federal agencies, institutions, businesses, residents, students, employees and colleagues.
- Ability to be a self-starter able to work with mínimal supervision and work effectively in team situations.
- Ability to provide a solution oriented, customer service approach using good judgement, creativity, and strategic thinking.
- Accomplished skills and experience in research and analysis.
- Intermediate skills Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and the general public.

**Hours of work**

35 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends in order to attend meetings and events.

**Pay/Salary**

CUPE 973 Grade 8: $33.19 - $40.76 per hour
