The Student Support Coordination team works with students who are navigating university systems as they experience academic and personal impacts. To develop the capacity of the institution to provide effective and student-centered responses to students and appropriate referrals, the Student Support program works with faculty and staff to provide consultation and guidance on best practices. We are dedicated to providing student support with consideration of the complex experiences, systemic challenges, barriers and marginalization that students may face and are committed to upholding the values of a trauma-informed, low barrier approach. **Scope**: The Manager, Student support is responsible for the supervision of the Student Support Coordination team and associated functions. The Manager provides guidance to faculty and staff engaging with student support matters for all undergraduate and graduate students across the university. Specifically, the incumbent is responsible for: - Program Oversight: Oversee the effective operations of the Student Support Coordinator program and functions, including case management processes, procedures and stakeholder relations. - Supervision: Providing skilled and accessible supervision to the Student Support Coordination team including meaningful consultation and mentorship on best practices in case management, ethical practice considerations, scope of non-clinical supports, appropriate escalation of concerns around barriers and complex support needs of students. - (Reflective Practice & Debrief: Developing and fostering a culture of reflective practice for student support, including leadership in implementing and maintaining a framework for debrief, feedback and meaningful support as well as cultivating supportive relationships with staff team members. - Complex Cases: Leading or guiding cases that present complex, high-risk student matters, including students who are experiencing significant distress and providing leadership on institutional crisis management if and when required; and - Consultation With Leadership: Providing expertise, strategic leadership and consultation for university leaders to develop the capacity of the institution to provide appropriate support responses to students. This position requires strong leadership in addressing student support concerns, managing referrals, and crisis management. The Manager provides leadership and guidance to the Student Support Coordinator team, critical response services to students in distress, and liaises with senior management on complex issues. They are responsible for strategic leadership to the Student Support Coordinator Program and to foster a supportive university culture, collaborating with various campus partners and developing resources for student support. The Manager also acts as the Associate Director, Student Support in their absence, overseeing all related responsibilities and authorities. This includes case management, policy development, budget management, and handling critical incidents. Some on-call duties may be required as per the PEA Collective Agreement. - Job RequirementsThis position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a graduate degree (or equivalent) in a related field (such as Social Work, Counselling, Child and Youth Care etc.) plus five (5) years of relevant leadership experience.
