Together we are more than 5,000 dedicated faculty, librarians and staff supporting the University of Victoria’s diverse academic programs, world-class research and commitment to civic engagement. **_*This position is eligible for a Hybrid Work Arrangement*_** **The salary range for this position is**: - **Recruitment range: $83,094- $91,625** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement. - **Performance range: starting salary to max of $108,088** is available through annual performance increases. - Job Summary Reporting to the Manager, Student Supports, the Indigenous Student Support Coordinator (ISSC) coordinates education, prevention, intervention, and support efforts across campus and community systems for Indigenous in general and specifically Indigenous at risk and those facing crises. The Indigenous Student Support Coordinator plays a key role in the response to complex/high-risk student issues including: - gathering information on complex and multi-dimensional student matters in order to help identify support/resource options for Indigenous students; - serving as the university’s central point of contact for liaising with Indigenous students/families in complex student matters; and - providing ongoing support and guidance for Indigenous students impacted by behaviours and actions that contravene important university policies including: Non-Academic Misconduct, Harassment and Discrimination, and Sexualized Violence; - coordinating care, implementing referrals and following-up on student issues requiring case management support. The Indigenous Student Support Coordinator enhances student success and retention by: - providing dedicated advice to Indigenous student who are experiencing a variety of significant emotional, social, behavioural and non-academic concerns; - helping such students identify and understand their options to make informed decisions; - providing critical non-academic case management support and coordination for students with complex needs; - providing expertise, consultation and advice in the management of complex student matters which may include assisting students in significant distress or students experiencing trauma to understand their options; and - Implementing effective case management processes that align with various university policies, practices and strategic plans. The Indigenous Student Support Coordinator will possess a demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage a diverse caseload. This position requires excellence in the facilitation of on-campus and community referrals, care coordination, planning and crisis management. Of critical importance to this position is an intimate knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Cultural competency, including an in-depth understanding of colonization, decolonization, land issues, cultural protocols, and settler/Indigenous relationships is essential. May be required to work outside of regular work hours (8:30-4:30) on evenings and weekends or on an identified rotating on-call schedule. - Job Requirements This position requires a Masters’ degree in a related field (e.g., social work, public health, counselling psychology, child and youth care etc.) and a minimum of 5 years practical work-related experience managing and responding to crisis or critical incidence(e.g. situations physical, sexual or self-directed violence) within university-aged populations, with advanced knowledge and skill in trauma-informed practices and/or with Indigenous communities/organizations, and **This position requires experience**: - Ability to work cross-culturally, in particular across the range of urban and First nations - Managing responses to crises; - Supporting and referring complainants, respondents and witnesses of sexualized/physical violence to a wide range of support services; - Supporting others in navigating complex processes; - Handling highly sensitive issues in a complex environment, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and neutrality; - Developing/implementing case management processes/practices in a post-secondary or similarly complex environment ((e.g., health authority, government, sexual assault centre, etc.); and - Using advanced de-escalation techni
