de la terre bakery is located just outside of downtown St. Catharines, Ontario and is seeking a full time Barista for our Front of House department. Our vision here at de la terre is to be the leading bread, pastry, and coffee producer in the region. We are seeking to hire a skilled, responsible, passionate, and confident individual that will work in concert with the other de la terre team members to create an exceptional customer experience. The Front of House Barista would be responsible for educating and serving customers, making espresso-based beverages, packaging orders, answering the phone, and all opening and closing duties. It is the intention of de la terre to create a highly renowned coffee program at the café. As such the quality of the coffee and espresso beverages served are held to a higher standard. Applicants must have the training and aptitude to meets these standards.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
- Skillfully making any coffee (espresso/batch brew and pour over), tea and any other beverages as ordered by customers to meet the standards of de la terre’s coffee program
- Serving and greeting customers including entering transactions into the P.O.S. system, packaging orders, answering the phone, and educating customers on our products and processes.
- Performing all opening and/or closing duties including setting up the bread and pastry display, opening and closing the register, and daily cleaning
- Working collectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure the customers have an exceptional experience.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment as well as being knowledgeable in proper food handling, storage, and labeling. Daily cleaning throughout and at the end of the shift is mandatory.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**
- Must have experience working in a café, restaurant or other food service setting. Minimum 1 year experience is required.
- Smart Serve certificate is required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills are required. Must be comfortable and confident working under pressure and problem solving.
- Flexibility and team mentality is a must. Must be comfortable working on your feet and standing throughout the day
- Proper food handling and cleaning is required; a Food Handlers certificate is an asset.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 40 per week

**Salary**: $15.50-$18.72 per hour
