Summary:
Reporting to the Warehouse and Shipping Manager, the Shipping Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all loading and on-time delivery schedules are met, through the effective scheduling and communication of customer order and delivery requirements to hourly shipping staff, supervision and transportation carriers. Ensures that loading and delivery activities are planned effectively and efficiently to optimize transportation cost including trailer and route utilization, in order to ensure customer delivery requirements are achieved. Make adjustments to inventory to keep accurate

**Responsibilities**:

- Ability to work directly with hourly shipping employees to resolve concerns
- Direct receiving for couriers
- Set up deliveries/orders for trailers and complete all necessary paperwork (bills) corresponding with the loads
- Direct communication with other Atlantic sites, Sales Reps and other Company contacts and demonstrates the ability to respond quickly and efficiently to changing circumstances
- Must be familiar and be able to work with computer systems
- Monitor general activities in the shipping department
- Ensure outside carriers are available for deliveries
- Constant communication between departments when stock is received
- Ability to act independently with little direction and suggest continuous improvement initiatives
- Work within the parameters of Company policies and procedures.
- Ensure customer delivery appointment times are scheduled
- Call customers to ensure they are updated on stock (time and date of delivery)
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results and performing other duties as assigned
- Back-up for the position is the Shipping Supervisor
- Provide back-up support for the other shipping functions as required

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary education in a related discipline or equivalent work experience is required
- Prior administrative experience within a high volume Shipping, Warehousing or Distribution environment is a prerequisite
- Prior experience planning and coordinating shipping and delivery activities with internal staff, transportation carriers and customers
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, Excel and business systems
- Strong communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills are prerequisites with the ability to prioritize tasks within a fast paced shipping environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and work with mínimal supervision
