Owned and operated by Community Living Toronto, Shadow Lake is a bustling summer home-away-from-home for over 500 guests with special needs and over 80 staff members.

We are seeking a Meal Planner to join the Healthcare Team. The Meal Planner reports to the Healthcare Coordinator.

Responsibilities include:

- Ensure dietary restrictions are being met by informing counsellors of person specific restrictions
- Prepare personal plates for more complex diets (i.e., Prader-Willie syndrome, diabetic, gluten free).
- Work with program coordinator to provide active program activities for participants (i.e., run stretching, encourage walks after meals)
- Ensure that they are communicating with families/caregivers regarding participants special diet restrictions
- Support other staff at mealtimes to ensure diets are being followed (ie. knowledge on what is in the meal/ingredients so when approached with questions the meal planner can distinguish who can eat what, specific dietary needs/requirements, etc.)
- Provide first aid where needed
- Assist the healthcare team with pouring and administering medications
- Support for emergencies
- Documentation of any incidents
- Uphold and enforce CLT policies and SLC Policies

Requirements: In post-secondary for nutrition or health studies or have an extensive understanding of nutrition, or 1+ Years at Shadow Lake Centre, Ontario Food Handler Certification (Not mandatory but preferred, can be provided during hiring process if needed), First Aid/CPR.

Experience in working with people with disabilities is beneficial but not required. We provide skill-building and training opportunities and are always looking for enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated staff.

Prior to the first day of camp, all staff participate in a week-long training program, and on-line orientation. Everyone is required to obtain a police check prior to starting work.

Each year Community Living Toronto supports over 4,000 individuals and their families in over 80 locations across Toronto. For over 50 years, Community Living Toronto’s Shadow Lake Camp has provided even greater opportunities to live the organization’s commitment to fostering inclusive communities through a camping experience tailored to ensure individuals with intellectual disabilities enjoy a Canadian summer tradition.
