Hydrographic Technical Support Lead

Ping DSP Inc, an internationally respected leader in the development and production of 3D imaging and hydrographic survey sonars is seeking a talented **Hydrographic Technical Support Lead** to join our growing team.
We are looking for an experienced surveyor to assist in conducting demonstrations and training, to provide technical support for customers, and to process data for case studies. The position will be on site at our office in North Saanich and will also include occasional travel to US and international locations in support of sales and market development.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Technical Support**: Provide technical support to customers, including help with operational and survey questions, investigating and debugging operational anomalies remotely using Teamviewer, issuing RMA’s when required, training resellers to provide first level support
- **Training**: Provide training to customers and resellers as needed. Training is primarily limited to system operation but in some cases it is also helpful to provide some help with basic hydrography (e.g. patch test etc). In some cases training may be via a remote internet connection to support a customer or reseller and in some cases training will be on-site and require international travel.
- **Data Processing**: Collect and process survey data (bathymetry, 3D sidescan and/or 2D sidescan) for use in generating case studies or system testing. Applications may include high accuracy coastal and inland hydrography, habitat mapping, engineering surveys, search and locate, rapid environmental assessment, structure mapping, water-column surveys. Use of different 3rd party survey software products will be necessary (e.g. Hypack, Qinsy, SonarWiz, Caris etc).
- **Documentation & Reporting**: Provide written reports of activities as needed. Document support calls and issues within a ticketing system.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum **2 years experience** in hydrographic surveying.
- **Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident**:
- Strong knowledge of shallow water, **high accuracy surveying methods** (e.g. RTK, PPK).
- Strong technical knowledge of **MBES systems and INS systems**and ability to determine and resolve system problems
- Strong **computer and network troubleshooting** skills
- Proficiency in **3rd party hydrographic software and sidescan imaging software** (proficiency with multiple software packages is an advantage).
- Excellent **communication, and customer listening skills**:

- **High integrity and genuine interest** in supporting customers and in working with others in the company towards common goals
