Salary depends on TQS category and years of experience. Range is $60,625 - $106,217.
Indigenous Culture and Student Leadership Coordinator

Position Summary
**This role has two main objectives**: coordinating cultural programming for students in grades 8-12 and facilitating the Indigenous Youth Leadership (IYL) program for grades 6-12. The position works closely with students from K-12 and the Indigenous Cultural Mentor to promote positive Indigenous identities.
Cultural Program Delivery
Organize cultural events and teachings for secondary students via school visits and leadership activities.
Collaborate with Tsawwassen, Musqueam, and other Coast Salish First Nations on curriculum development and professional learning.
Liaise with Elders and Knowledge Keepers from local First Nations.
Co-plan seasonal events with the Indigenous Education team.
Source community resources for presentations and activities.
Develop cultural programming linked to the BC curriculum and facilitate non-judgmental dialogue on Indigenous issues.
Offer workshops and consultations on Indigenous Worldviews.
Indigenous Youth Leadership (IYL) Program
Develop and manage a comprehensive program for Indigenous students (grades 6-12) in the Delta School District, including support for grades 10-12.
Engage students, parents, and Indigenous leaders in program planning and implementation.
Tailor activities to student interests, assess impact, and incorporate feedback.
Promote program participation in schools.
Key Responsibilities
Build relationships with youth and provide ongoing mentoring.
Share and learn about Indigenous cultures through various communication channels.
Coordinate cultural education activities, including traditional practices and experiential learning.
Organize and facilitate leadership development and community engagement initiatives.
Community Engagement
Engage in district and community events, promote post-secondary opportunities, and involve families in events.
Collaborate with the Indigenous Education team and contribute to the “Cedar, Salmon, Spindle Whorls” website.
**Qualifications**:
Minimum 5 years of teaching experience.
In-depth understanding of Indigenous historical contexts and TRC Calls to Action.
Experience with Coast Salish communities and providing educational experiences for Indigenous students.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to design and deliver educational initiatives and understand graduation and post-secondary requirements.
