The Opportunity

The vice-president of marketing reports to the CEO and is a key member of the Leadership Team. Main partners include VanillaSoft’s sales, operations, R&D, and product management executives, as well as the company’s external marketing agency.

This individual oversees all marketing and demand generation as their primary responsibility, including the development, sell-through, and performance of all lead generation programs including content, event marketing, strategy, creative development, ICP identification and targeting, and project management. This role also works to develop the brand as an industry technology and thought leader - spreading brand and product awareness in key forums. This individual is responsible for collaboration, training, and developing team members into a highly efficient, productive, and results-oriented department.

Prime Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and maintaining marketing plan and executing the plan including:

- Goals - Marketing goals for the organization for each year - with proper focus and benchmarks defined
- Strategy - Definition of our Target Markets and Value Proposition
- Tactics - Brand, Communication, and Incentives
- Implementation - All infrastructure, processes, and scheduling
- Budget and Spend Management for the Department
- Control - Evaluation and analysis
- Responsible for selection and integrations of all VanillaSoft marketing tools
- Responsible for marketing goal setting and OKR measurement structure with the team and communicating those goals with the team to ensure they understand their role in achieving those goals.
- Manage marketing spend efficiently and effectively
- Build and enhance VanillaSoft brand to maintain recognition and status as a clear leader in the industry.
- Identify industry events and industry publications for brand awareness and lead gen opportunities, allocate spending and deploy resources accordingly
- Responsible for mentoring and building a team as the department continues to grow
- Responsible for being a visible advocate on webinars, speaking engagements, social, etc. with the ability to nurture others in the company to be additional brand advocates.
- Responsible for working with sales leadership to ensure both teams are aligned.
- Maintain brand standards with multiple products and ensure compliance across all marketing and communications
- Build customer community and provide ongoing value to customers. (to help upsell and cross sell initiatives)
- Responsible for expanding current approach to content marketing from constant content production to include campaign approach that will guide prospects through the sales cycle.

You believe marketing is a ‘science’ as well as an art and place a heavy emphasis on metrics. You are comfortable working in a lean organization in a dynamic, competitive industry. You also feel comfortable in a tightly controlled venture that is NOT being built for acquisition but rather long-term growth.

You have been/are responsible for setting the strategy for all marketing of a mid-sized firm where you helped grow a company, or a specific product line, within a $15M+ company profitably with an emphasis on delivering measurable results. Or maybe you were second-in-command and are ready for the challenge of heading it up.

**Qualifications**:

- 10+ years of proven success in communicating software technology to diverse stakeholders at SMB and mid-market companies and focused on demand generation
- Outstanding team building and leadership skills to include selection, training, and retention of direct reports and external content providers with experience managing remote staff a plus
- Natural curiosity for innovation
- Strategic mindset, which translates into a smart strategy
- Strong experience in developing departments with a track record for results
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to develop new processes and/or formats as needed
- Able to identify market opportunities/niches and capitalize on them.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
- Ability to handle high-level confidential matters with discretion.
- Creative and strategic thinker.
- Strong presentation & writing skills.
- Strong understanding and use of social media to achieve business objectives.
