The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is Canada’s national standards body and leading accreditation organization. Established in 1970 as a federal Crown corporation, SCC opens a world of possibilities through standardization. The SCC works with a vast network of partners across Canada and globally, representing Canada’s interests on the international stage as a member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). As Canada’s leading accreditation organization, SCC establishes market confidence by ensuring that conformity assessment bodies meet the highest standards. Everything they do is aimed at shaping a better future for Canada and ensuring that standardization delivers the greatest benefit for all. It is within this context that the SCC is seeking its next Vice-President, Standardization Services Branch (Vice-President).
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice-President provides strategic leadership of the Standardization Services branch. As a key member of the Executive Management Committee, the Vice-President shares accountability for SCC’s corporate objectives and long-term strategic direction by ensuring that SCC continues to provide customized services. The Vice-President will lead SCC’s participation in international standards development and will ensure that the organization achieves its objectives within the Canadian standards development system. The Vice-President will also lead the design and promotion of nuanced policy solutions that position standardization—and SCC’s role within the standardization ecosystem—as a pivotal instrument for governments and others to achieve economic, trade, and regulatory priorities. In essence, the Vice President will play a critical role in strengthening Canada’s voice and influence in the global and domestic standardization landscape.
