The Assistant Vice-President (Financial Services) provides leadership and operational oversight of Carleton’s financial and procurement services by providing the university community with the tools, advice, and guidance necessary for the efficient and effective management of its financial resources. The Assistant Vice-President (Financial Services) ensures that there are policies, procedures, and systems in place to facilitate the university’s financial obligations, fiduciary financial control and reporting functions. This position leads in the development of the financial parameters used in the Carleton’s operating budget as well as the final budget used to guide and control operating expenditures. The Assistant Vice-President (Financial Services) oversees the relationship with external audits, both financial and operational, and ensures policies, procedures and practices are in place to appropriately manage the university’s cash and investment balances.

This is a leadership position, reporting to the Vice-President (Finance & Administration), that oversees all activities relating to the core financial services of the university including the Controller’s Office, Business Operations (e.g., payable, receivables, banking), Research Financial Services, and Procurement Services. This position provides support to the Vice-President (Finance & Administration) on people financial issues as well as providing strategic and operational support to leaders from across the university on high-profile, high-risk people financial issues.

- A university degree
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation
- Minimum of ten years of previous experience in progressive leadership roles
