**Job Summary**
Reporting to the CEO, the Master Grower provides horticultural guidance and support to production and operations. This role oversees all tasks related to managing the hydroponic system and greenhouse facility, including crop production, propagation, pest and disease management, and ensuring food safety protocols.
**Duties**:
- Optimize growing strategies for high yield, high-performance leafy greens.
- Manage growing in production and R&D hydroponic facilities, balancing nutrient levels and controlling pathogens.
- Maintain organization and control of hydroponic growing and environmental control software.
- Plan, implement, and ensure compliance with food safety and occupational health & safety policies.
- Maintain neat, orderly, and safe work areas related to growing.
- Collect and maintain data records on crop health, environmental data, trials, and sanitation.
- Lead meetings and set expectations for the grow team.
- Evaluate job performance and manage tasks for production and R&D facilities.
- Perform and delegate maintenance tasks for production and R&D systems.
- Plan and manage agronomic trials.
- Implement provisions to improve plant growth.
- Ensure completion of daily operational checklists.
- Collect data for R&D and production purposes.
- Keep accurate electronic records of data, formulas, and processes.
- Monitor and respond to plant diseases and pests.
- Operate computerized and control systems.
- Evaluate potential processes/products to save costs.
- Ensure equipment is in proper operating condition and follow crop hygiene practices.
- Strictly follow all internal SOPs and health and safety regulations.
- Adhere to safety policies and maintain sanitation protocols.
- Respect tight development periods to achieve results.
- Maintain supply inventory and order equipment/materials/services.
- Partake in Occupational First Aid and maintain up-to-date equipment and protocols.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under specific timelines.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in commercial growing, hydroponics, management, and food safety programs.
- Experience in monitoring and optimizing growing conditions.
- Excellent leadership skills and ability to work with multiple teams.
**Work Conditions**:
- 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- May be requested to support operations outside of regular work hours.
- Must be on-call during weekends and holidays for emergencies.
- Use of personal vehicle may be required.
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
