The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.

About the AMS
The Alma Mater Society (AMS), established as a formal constitution of UBC's student organization in 1915, is UBC's official student union and is the largest student union in Canada. Operating as an independent organization of UBC, the AMS advocates students' interests and provides opportunities for their growth and advancement. The AMS represents over 56,000 undergraduate and graduate students and its priorities are determined by these members. In addition to offering services to students, the AMS is an advocate of students' issues and ensures the needs of students are presented to the University administration and the provincial and federal governments. The AMS Nest is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded land of the Musqueam people.
Every student at UBC is part of the AMS and the AMS is the manifestation of a shared student experience. From providing advocacy, to student services that support health and education, to reducing student debt, the AMS fights for student interest to the University and all levels of government so that all students can succeed in life and take ownership over their time at the University of British Columbia. The AMS is student-led, student-focused, and always student-first.
Position Purpose
The Business Development Coordinator is responsible for driving growth and revenue across AMS food and beverage outlets through strategic marketing initiatives, market research, and customer engagement programs. This role focuses on increasing foot traffic, enhancing brand awareness, and implementing data-driven marketing strategies to achieve business objectives while aligning with the Alma Mater Society's mission statement and values.

**Responsibilities**:

- Design and execute comprehensive marketing strategies aimed at boosting foot traffic and increasing revenue across all AMS food outlets.
- Conduct ongoing market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and areas for growth.
- Develop and manage engaging social media content strategies tailored to each platform and audience.
- Track and evaluate customer behavior, preferences, and feedback to inform marketing decisions.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with campus organizations, student groups, and key stakeholders.
- Produce monthly reports detailing key marketing performance indicators, campaign effectiveness, and return on investment.
- Collaborate with outlet managers to create and roll out targeted promotional campaigns and in-store activations.
- Manage marketing budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources to maximize impact.
- Coordinate with and oversee external marketing vendors and strategic partners.
- Use data insights to recommend menu enhancements and pricing strategies that align with customer preferences and financial goals.
- Design and implement customer loyalty initiatives to drive repeat business and strengthen brand loyalty.
- Work in alignment with the AMS Marketing & Communications team to maintain consistent and cohesive brand messaging.
- Plan and execute special events, and promotional activities to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the success of AMS Food & Beverage operations.

Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a business development or marketing management role.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality & Tourism, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective marketing campaigns.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Hands-on experience with social media management and a variety of digital marketing platforms.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal.
- Solid understanding of food service industry operations and marketing within that context.
- Proficient in conducting market research and utilizing analysis tools to support strategic decisions.
