Smart & Biggar is currently looking for a Business Development Coordinator to join our national Business Development & Marketing team.As the Business Development Coordinator, you will provide hands-on support of the execution of BD initiatives and coordinating activities that directly contribute to the firm's growth and client engagement in collaboration with the broader BD team, the central Marketing team, and practitioners across the firm. Responsibilities. Draft and coordinate legal directory submissions (e.g., Chambers, IAM, WTR, Lexpert)Assist in maintaining the firm's matter and experience database for use in pitches and BD and marketing materialsSupport logistics for lawyer attendance and participation in firm-hosted and third-party eventsCoordinate logistics for client hosting, including reservations, tracking, and follow-upManage deliverables, branding, and logistics for sponsorships and external eventsMaintain client and contact records, activities, and engagement history in the CRM systemCreate distribution lists, send invites, track responses, and support follow-up communicationsAssist with contact management and database cleanup across systemsTrack and report on BD activities and initiativesAssist with the preparation of pitch materials, proposals, and capability statementsOther duties may be assigned or amended as requiredQualifications, competencies, and experience.Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field2+ years of experience in a BD and/or marketing role, preferably in in a law firm or professional services firmStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasksProficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) and tools like InDesign or Canva is an assetKnowledge of IP or the legal sector is a strong assetNo recruiters or agencies please.#LI-HYBRIDSmart & Biggar offers a comprehensive total rewards package including:A competitive compensation structure based on transparency, clarity and fairness;A flexible benefits program;Personal days to help balance personal and professional commitments;Employee referral program.Smart & Biggar is a proud member of the Law Firm Diversity and Inclusion Network (LFDIN), working to promote diversity and encourage a culture of inclusion in our Firm and the broader legal profession.We welcome applications from all qualified individuals.
