The Ultra manufacturing function is responsible for the manufacture, integration and test of a wide range of products and systems providing innovative capabilities for our customers.
The Assembly function in Ultra assembles and wires difficult and complex assemblies, using drawings, operation sets and engineering documents. The Test function will test, fault find and identify the repair to be undertaken on a range of products to meet our customer commitments in terms of quality and timescales. It ensure that the units under test have passed all the parameters as laid down in the Product Test Schedule before releasing.
The role is suitable for:
An entry level professional graduated technologist with limited work experience but with applicable education, learning skills to perform routine tasks as prescribed and with little autonomy. Works under clearly defined procedures and with close supervision.
We are now recruiting for an Electronic or Mechanical Technician to work as part of our Free Flooded Ring transducer production team, building, testing, troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of underwater sensors and systems.
Required Responsibilities:
Working with general supervision, the Electronic or Mechanical Technician/Technologist performs the following job duties:
- Assembles, tests, inspects, troubleshoots and repairs a wide range of electro-mechanical parts, sub-assemblies or assemblies in accordance with specifications, diagrams and drawings;- Operates various types of environmental chambers;- Applies their knowledge to provide timely testing and troubleshooting on products;- Failure analysis: Identify root cause of rejects and make recommendation for corrective actions- Basic maintenance of test equipment;- Builds and maintains jigs and fixtures;- Compiles and analyses records, statistics and formulates basic reports as required;- Recognizes and initiates investigations for workmanship non-conformances.- Support Work Instruction (MEI) generation, review and updates; Test Set Procedure (VDS) generation, review and updates- Other tasks as assigned.
What are we looking for?- Graduated Electronic or Mechanical Technician/Technologist qualification from a recognized community college;- Minimum Co-op to 1 year relevant experience;- Proven mechanical aptitude;- Good working knowledge of recognized industry workmanship standards;- Soldering skills compliant with recognized industry workmanship standards;-
- Excellent problem solving skills;- Good communication skills (verbal and written);-
- Ability to maintain a high level of productivity without compromising quality standards;- Attitude: has a positive can-do attitude in everyday work. Is able to deal with and support change;- Ability to meet the physical job demands.
