This is a 1 year term position. The Temporary Part-Time Recreation Operator carries out maintenance, set-up and security duties primarily associated with the Shift Community Recreation Centre. Some interdepartmental overlap of tasks at other locations may be necessary. Shift work is a requirement of this position, working up to 20 hours per week. The majority of shifts filled by this position will be weeknight and weekend work. The starting wage for this position will be $20.72-$22.02 per hour. Hours worked after 6:00pm will be paid at an additional $2 per hour increase.

**JOB DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Assist in the operation and maintenance of Town recreation facilities on a regular basis.
- Carry out maintenance responsibilities for the Shift Community Recreation Centre.
- Assist in the supervision of the Shift Community Recreation Centre, including site security, minor repairs, standard maintenance procedures and related equipment maintenance.
- Ensure recreation facilities, grounds and equipment are cleaned on a regular basis.
- Operate equipment as needed or directed.
- Adhere to Town safety regulations and procedures.
- Identify and report safety concerns or hazards that are encountered in Town facilities.
- Perform other duties as required.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Valid Class 5 Operator’s License.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- High School Diploma.
- Relatable work experience in facility maintenance, security and/or recreation programming.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Moderate amounts of physical effort including bending, lifting, and walking.
- Use and operation of a variety of equipment including: trucks, Auto Scrubbers etc.
- Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. may be required.

**HEALTH & SAFETY**:

- All employees of the Town of Coaldale are governed by and must be compliant with the Town of Coaldale Safety Program.
- Ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with the Town of Coaldale policies, as well as the law as set forth by Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at all times as per safe job procedures.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $20.72-$22.02 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week

Schedule:

- Evening shift
- Weekends as needed
