The Parks Operator carries out duties for all parks and green spaces associated with the Town. Some interdepartmental overlap is necessary. The working hours of this position will vary depending on the season. Shift work may be a requirement of this position.

**COMPENSATION**
- 2025 wage range: $29.55 / hour to $32.29 / hour
- $3/hour shift premium for evenings and weekends
- 100% employer paid health and dental benefit premiums (excluding LTD) after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period
- $1000 annual health spending account
- Opportunity for a 5.75% increase effective January 1, 2026
- Opportunity for a 5.75% increase effective January 1, 2027

**TERM**
- This is a temporary position, with an expected Term of (2)-years.

**JOB DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of Town parks facilities on a regular basis.
- This position will reside at the Parks department year round. It will be responsible for parks related work.
- Carry out maintenance responsibilities for park facilities, green spaces and equipment, including, but not limited to: turf maintenance, filling gopher holes, maintaining irrigation and other parks infrastructure.
- Operate assigned equipment such as but not limited to lawnmowers, weed whips, light tractors, snow blowers, single axle trucks, Zamboni etc.
- Install, maintain, operate and repair irrigation systems at Town parks and green spaces.
- Water, fertilize and seed boulevards, parks, flower beds, lawns, shrubs and trees.
- Preparation, planting and maintenance of flowerbeds, shrubs and trees at various Town parks, green areas and grounds.
- Adhere to Town safety regulations and procedures.
- Identify and report safety concerns or hazards that are encountered in Town facilities or on Town properties.
- Perform other duties as required.

**REQUIREMENTS**
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum one year experience in a similar setting.
- Valid Class 5 Operator’s License.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Subject to working in an outdoor environment - heat, cold, dry, dusty and / or wet conditions as well as insects, bees and wildlife.
- Moderate amounts of physical effort including bending, lifting, and walking.
- Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. may be required.
- Normal working day consists of 8 hours; however occasional overtime may be required.

**HEALTH & SAFETY**

- Ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with the Town of Coaldale policies, as well as the law as set forth by Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at all times as per safe job procedures.
