The Housing Division within Assisted Living and Social Services uses a community-based delivery model for the provision of housing programs, initiatives, and services to a wide variety of Albertans in need of housing solutions. The Housing Division works with over 350 housing providers (municipalities, housing management bodies, Indigenous governments and organizations, and non-profit and private sector organizations) to provide stable and sustainable lower-cost housing for Albertans in need, including support for existing and new housing options for over 120,000 low-income families, individuals, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
**Role Responsibilities**:
**Manager, Non-Profit Housing**
In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with Housing Advisors, non-profit housing providers (PNPs), and other stakeholders. This role ensures compliance with legislation, funding agreements, and program requirements, while promoting effective property management and tenant relations. You will support federal reporting requirements under the Social Housing Agreement (SHA), the National Housing Strategy Bilateral Agreement (NHS), and the Canada Housing Benefit Addendum (CHB).
The Manager also conducts operational reviews based on risk assessments, contributes to federal reporting obligations, and collaborates with stakeholders to enhance housing delivery and sustainability across Alberta.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recommend improvements to budget and audit packages used by PNPs to enhance ease of use, accuracy, and compliance with reporting requirements.
- Provide expert advice and analysis to senior management on housing program changes and new initiatives, including their operational impacts on housing providers.
- Respond to and resolve inquiries or concerns from tenants, stakeholders, and the public related to non-profit housing providers.
- Support initiatives that strengthen partnerships and improve service delivery within the non-profit housing sector.
To succeed in this role, you will bring strong analytical skills, a collaborative approach, and deep knowledge of housing policy and funding frameworks.
**Manager, Grant Compliance**
As the Manager of Grant Compliance, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of grant compliance policies, processes, and tools to support compliance across multiple affordable housing grant programs, including the Affordable Housing Partnership Program and the Indigenous Housing Capital Program. This role ensures grant recipients meet legislative and funding agreement requirements through annual reporting assessments and on-site reviews.
The Manager also builds strong relationships with stakeholders, manages risk, and guides a team in delivering expert consultation and oversight to support program accountability and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and enhance operational policies, procedures, and documentation to support grant compliance.
- Provide expert consultation, training, and support to internal teams and grant recipients to ensure understanding and adherence to grant agreement requirements.
- Identify and address compliance risks and recommend strategies to mitigate potential issues related to affordable housing funding.
- Lead and support a team of staff, contributing to the branch’s strategic planning, priority setting, and operational coordination.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with grant recipients and internal/external stakeholders, including teams such as Housing Capital Programs, Policy, Planning and Analytics, and
Business Services.
