**Job Summary**:
Redpath Canada Limited is seeking an Area Safety and Training Supervisor to provide the necessary resources and support required to ensure project personnel meet all Redpath Canada Limited’s Quebec Project, Client and legislative requirements relating to Health, Safety and Training in the workplace.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop, implement, and support a site-specific Safety and Training Program
- Participate in serious Injury and Incident Investigations
- Participate in project Risk Assessments
- Participate in new project safety start-up planning
- Conduct workplace inspections and safety audits
- Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and standards
- Advise senior management on matters relating to safety, training and workforce development
- Monitor workplace permits and lock out tag out procedures for compliance.
- Monitor proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
- Ensure that workers are qualified and capable to safely performing the assigned work

**Skills and Qualifications**
- 3-5 years’ experience in a shaft/underground mining environment
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Specialty modules for FMTM or Ontario Common Core
- Formal training in a Safety Program with an associated designation
- Train-the-trainer Certification is considered an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge and advanced understanding of mine regulations specific to health and safety standards
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing, including formal reports
- Ability to recognize and resolve problems as required
- Ability to adapt to a varying work environment often requiring the employee to develop new and innovative work methods
- Strong leadership skills, organizational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

**Health and Safety**:

- Coaching/Mentoring and being a resource to site personnel to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
- Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor
- Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e. PPE, lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.
- Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an SDS sheet.
- Work in accordance with local legislation.
