Full Time Crisis Support Worker

Shifts are generally 8.5 hours during the week and weekends. This is a bargaining unit, permanent, full time position. Salary will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
**Start Date: October 1st, 2024**
**Hours**:Afternoons (Sunday, Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays)
**Minimum Requirements**:
- Post-secondary education in a related human or social services field (e.g. social work, psychology, addictions, etc.)
- 2 years’ experience in a similar role, with preference given to individuals with experience working with survivors of domestic violence
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Valid First Aid and CPR
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months)
**Assets**
- NVCI certification
- ASIST Training
- Mental Health First Aid Certification
- Ability to communicate in secondary language
**Required Abilities & Skills**:
- Demonstrated ability to provide non-judgmental, client-centered, non-therapeutic emotional and practical support to women experiencing violence and/or abuse
- Experience in conflict resolution, de-escalation and risk assessment
- Demonstrated assessment, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction principles and practices, strength based and resiliency focused assessments
- Proven case documentation and effective reporting information practices
- Ability to participate and contribute in a strong team environment with an inclusive and collaborative approach
- Strong ability to work under mínimal supervision and act with a high degree of independent judgement, taking action on a variety of matters as required
- Ability to develop a positive rapport and interact effectively with adults and children/youth
- Ability to handle challenging client behaviours, enforce policies and make decisions in a demanding and fast paced environment
- Starting pay at $24.81 as per the collective agreement with corresponding increases in alignment with the collective agreement.
