We seek excellent students, faculty, and staff to join us in what has become known as the "Western Experience" - an opportunity to contribute to a better world through the development of new knowledge, new abilities, new connections, and new ways to make a difference. **About Us**: Let’s Talk Science is committed to preparing youth in Canada for future careers and citizenship demands in a rapidly changing world. **Responsibilities**: **Administrative Assistant - Let's Talk Science Educator Partnership** **Responsibilities**: **Duties**: - Pair volunteers with teachers at the beginining of the year, and throughout the year as new requests arrive for the Teacher Partnership Program. - Recruit teachers in London and surrounding areas if spaces are available. - Manage kit and activity bookings for volunteers. - Coordinate with volunteers for kit creating, pick-up, and drop-off on an as needed basis. - Ensure that volunteers fill out a portal log for every classroom visit they perform. - Ensure that teachers are informed of both educator evaluations and the youth impact survey to fill out after their visits. - Check in with educators at least once per semester for the Teacher Partnership Program. - Check in with volunteers at least twice per semester for the Teacher Partnership Program. - Encourage and support volunteers who experience issues, and work together to come to a solution. - Encourage and support volunteers to go above and beyond their contracts at the schools where tehy volunteer (i.e. organize a "Science Day" at the school where they volunteer). - Encourage and support volunteers who develop new ideas for their visits, with the potential of turning them into permanent activities/resources for their local site. - Attenda all local Let's Talk Science major events (i.e. socials, volunteer appreciation events, leadership initiatives, etc.). - Attend 1 office hour/week. - Attend monthly coordinator meetings. - Assist with Let's Talk Science communication with the National Office, Western University, and all Let's Talk Science supporters (i.e. writing annual reports). - Assist in recruitment and training of new volunteers along with the coordinator team. - Assist in the management of various volunteer committees, if applicable. - Assist other coordinators, where applicable. Qualifications: - Excellent leadership and management skills. - Ability to work independently and in group situations. - Interest in science education. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills. - Enthusiasm and reliability. - Previous science outreach experience an asset.
