SUMMARY:
The Manager of Housing Operations
(MHO) is responsible for the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of Oshkâyak Dibinawaang (Youn Person in Shelter from the Wind) Transitional Housing Services including supervising a team of housing staff. They will play an integral role in contributing to and executing the strategic direction by providing oversight of services, the facility and programs using a youth centered and harm reduction approach.

This position supports the Director of Housing in hiring and training of new staff members, and in leading the overall management of staff and housing operations. The Manager of Housing Operations must possess the ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals, and be able to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports. The MHO is further responsible for administration, health and safety, and for coordination of services among partnering agencies related to Oshkâyak Dibinawaang.

This position will require shift-work including evening and occasional weekend hours, as well as being on call for emergency response.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Preferred Community College Diploma, University Degree or equivalent in Social Service field with a minimum of a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience and/ or supervisory experienc
- Transitional Housing Operations experience or Shelter experience and knowledge of critical housing programs to support youth homeless challenges.
- Experience in supervising employees and ability to delegate tasks.
- Experience monitoring operational budgets and ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of and experience in staff recruitment, orientation, performance management, employee relations and communications.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, and knowledge of applicable legislation.
- Progressive understanding of persistent mental illness, addictions and other challenges and how these issues impact overall health, wellbeing, and quality of life.
- Excellent ability to deal professionally, effectively and non-judgementally with a broad range of personalities, needs, cultures and abilities.
- Understanding of the intergenerational trauma that occurs as a result of colonization, Residential Schools, Sixties Scoop, and other oppressive systems as well as the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada.
- Proven work experience in managing crisis support and ability to mediate conflict; familiarity with suicide/risk assessment and crisis support services.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key transitional housing partners and TBIFC.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- High level of administrative skills including data management and personnel management.
- Models’ appropriate communication with staff; ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Excellent conflict mediation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours; including evenings and weekends.
- Current First Aid / CPR Certificate and Safe Food Handling certification is an asset.
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable transportation. A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Clearance is a condition of employment.

**Salary**: $85,500 per annum
