**Job Description**:
***:Under the supervision of the Manager - Planning Services, the Coordinator is responsible for further developing, coordinating and implementing the City of Thunder Bay’s Housing Accelerator/Affordable Housing Programs and initiatives, including Community Improvement Plans and housing projects navigation.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Leads and coordinates the further development, implementation, ongoing monitoring, and evaluation of the City of Thunder Bay Housing Accelerator/Affordable Housing Programs, policies and initiatives.
- Coordinates input from and liaises with stakeholders including other levels of government, City Council, City administration and staff, as well as members of related agencies and the public to establish and promote the Housing CIP Programs and grants.
- Conducts best practice reviews, researches policies and programs, including those in other municipalities, and provides expertise and advice on how to increase participation in the Housing Accelerator/Affordable Housing Programs and Initiatives.
- Guides and facilitates access to Affordable Housing and Housing CIP grants.
- Develops and applies expertise on navigating affordable housing development projects to facilitate affordable housing construction projects.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community partners.
- Develops public education and advertising on the Housing Accelerator/Affordable Housing Programs and Initiatives to reach target audiences.
- Approves, tracks and reports on grants, including periodic status updates on the effectiveness of Housing Accelerator/Affordable Housing Programs and Initiatives.
- Reviews the success of the Housing Accelerator/Affordable Housing Programs and Initiatives and recommends enhancements and changes to grants to increase access to the Programs and Initiatives.
- Reviews and prepares requests for quotation/proposal, tenders, contracts, and agreements for required services and monitors/evaluates the work of consultants.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Degree in planning studies, environmental studies, business administration, commerce, economics, public administration, political science or related field, along with three years’ of related experience in housing policy and programs or community planning and development, and coordinating/implementing projects; or
- Diploma in planning studies, business administration, commerce, economics, public administration, political science or related field, along with five years’ of related experience in housing policy and programs or community planning and development, and coordinating/implementing projects

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, coworkers, funding agencies, community partners and the public
- Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills
- Must be able to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner
- Ability to work with a diverse population and to identify, understand, and meet/exceed internal and external customer service requirements
- Ability to exercise independent judgment when dealing with confidential or sensitive issues
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Working knowledge of applicable legislation, related regulations and best practices
- Proven abilities to build consensus and to motivate others
- Proven facilitation, report writing, and presentation skills
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated enthusiasm for housing initiatives
- Must be at an intermediate skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Must be proficient in the use of presentation software, the internet, and social media tools

**Assets**:

- Experience with SAP software
- Familiarity with the functions of all three levels of government
- Knowledge of functions of City departments, outside boards, and local community groups

**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- May be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
