The Payroll Administrator is responsible for conducting accurate and timely full-cycle bi-weekly payroll, benefits administration, reconciling statutory requirements, deductions and other payroll related accounts. We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our team.
- _Key Accountabilities: _*
- Monitors daily timekeeping information to ensure employees are paid correctly and on time.
- On-boards and off-boards employees into payroll software as required.
- Produces and enters manual cheques as required.
- Transmits payroll as per deadlines and distributes paystubs accordingly.
- Provides reports for Senior Managers as required.
- Produces Record of Employments.
- Ensures all benefit deductions and taxable benefits are accurately recorded in payroll and reconciled on a quarterly basis.
- Processes timecards and transmits payroll for miscellaneous firms.
- Liaises with departmental and branch managers concerning payroll issues.
- Ensures pay policies are compliant with the applicable Collective Agreement.
- Processes year-end T slips.
- Produces and imports bi-weekly payroll journal vouchers.
- Creates data entry or import of journals for all benefit remittances.
- Reconciles payroll related general ledger accounts on a quarterly basis.
- Prepares all requisitions for payroll related payables and produces cheques when required.
- Annually produces T2200’s.
- Creates year-end reconciliations and adjustments.
- Advises employees on their eligibility for benefits and RRSP’s, respond to questions and resolve issues.
- Processes enrolments, changes and terminations for various group benefits & RRSP’s.
- Maintains monthly costing spreadsheets and bi-weekly benefit deductions.
- Files on a bi-weekly basis.
- Administers payroll software maintenance.
- Participates in other related duties and projects as assigned.

**_Education, Experience & Abilities: _**
- Holds a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Designation.
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting, with two (2) years’ experience with Canadian payroll processing; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Working knowledge of relevant Canadian payroll compliance legislation.
- Experience with payroll software, performing reports/analytics, payroll processing, benefits maintenance, time and attendance.
- Experience working in a unionized environment; interpreting Collective Agreements.
- Advanced level use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs with intermediate knowledge in Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team; collaborating with others to achieve goals and objectives.
- Positive attitude that communicates job related issues with a constructive, problem solving approach.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in order to be effective in requesting and delivering information.
- Self-starter who has the ability to exercise considerable independence, sound judgement, and requires mínimal supervision; takes initiatives to make things happen without being asked and anticipates tasks that need to be done.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.
- Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- Looks for ways to improve processes and procedures; continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to work different shifts and overtime as required.
