**Position**: Summer Student, Community Service Worker

**Position Summary**:
Assists in coordinating the Transportation & Food Bank program requests and enquiries. Books, schedules, and confirms client transportation and food related deliveries. Supports drivers in loading and delivery of food hampers and meals. Communicates with supervisors/colleagues and partner agencies regarding transportation requests and food bank operations. Supports a culture of client safety as part of ESS key strategic goal and priority. Identifies client safety risk; supports a non-punitive reporting environment for reporting unsafe practices and/or errors; supports staff safety surveys and acts on the safety recommendations.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Supports the Transportation and Food Bank Coordinators by answering client calls for ride and food hamper/meal delivery requests; completes client registration and bookings
- Confirms transportation and delivery schedules with clients and staff
- Receives and schedules weekly grocery shopping orders and group outing requests from clients
- Assists in reviewing and reconciling monthly billing and statistics
- Assists in scheduling of agency transportation & food bank volunteersP
- Provides referrals and resources to clients for other transportation and food security resources
- Assists Coordinators and Drivers, as required, in the sorting, packing and delivery of food hampers/meals
- Collects, enters and update client data for Transportation and Food programs and statistics
- Completes all necessary documentation as required by operational policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**
- Concern for and experience with seniors and issues of poverty and food insecurity
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to exercise good judgement, problem solving, and flexibility in response to changing situations and needs
- Ability to work effectively independently and as a team
- Ability to lift to 50lbs
- Must able to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination upon hire

**To be eligible to participate in Canada Summer Jobs, individuals must**:

- Be between 15 & 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- Have been registered as full-time student in the preceding academic year and intend to return to school on full-time basis in the next academic year;
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protections Act*_and;
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
