Safety & Compliance Officer, Cardinal Couriers

Are you a Safety & Compliance professional in the transportation industry looking for a new challenge? Cardinal Couriers is a mid-sized, family-owned carrier with terminals in Ontario and Quebec, and approximately 250 company drivers and owner operators.

We are looking for a Safety & Compliance Officer to manage initiatives within Cardinal, focusing on driver safety and compliance. Being a stand-alone role, with support from other departments, this is a great opportunity for someone with strong industry knowledge who wants to come in and make an impact.

As a strong advocate who leads by example, you have the following qualifications:

- 5 years of similar experience with a federally-regulated carrier, preferably with locations in ON & QC
- Working knowledge, and understanding, of all related industry regulations, standards, and guidelines
- Ability and enthusiasm for travelling to Cardinal terminals and promoting safety, conducting training, interviewing drivers, investigating incidents, etc
- Good writing, communication, presentation, interpersonal and computer skills
- Class G ON drivers license in good standing is required; commercial driving experience is an asset
- Related safety transportation industry certifications are an asset
- It would be great if you were fully bilingual (French & English), but this isn't mandatory.

This position reports directly into the President.
- Based out of Cardinal's Mississauga terminal (6600 Goreway Drive), this position requires travel to Cardinal's terminals, mainly within Ontario and Quebec. It is a fully on-site position. Being an overnight courier, many of Cardinal's drivers work nights. This position supports these drivers. As such, at times this role will be required to work afternoons, nights and/or early mornings._

**Experience**:

- transportation safety & compliance: 5 years (preferred)
- commercial driver skills assessment and/or training: 1 year (preferred)
- policy development: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- transportation safety related certifications (preferred)
- Ontario Class G drivers license in good standing (required)

Ability to Commute:

- Mississauga, ON L4V 1S6 (required)

Willingness to travel:

- 25% (preferred)
