Safety and Compliance Assistant Manager

**About the job**:
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implements policies and procedures regarding transportation and workplace safety to ensure compliance with state/provincial and federal regulations, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT and MTO)
- Developing materials and conducting sessions for driver orientation, as well as, training for existing drivers
- Mentoring the competency of managers in safety management practices, protocols and procedures
- Conducting audits and inspections of private fleet and vendor practices to monitor and ensure policy and procedure compliance
- Collaborating with recruiting department during the hiring and selection process to ensure quality of drivers being brought on aligns with hiring criteria.
- Create, Maintain and monitor safety files and other related records including but not limited to, Driver Qualification Files
- Conducts post accident review and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.
- Acts as company liaison to work with insurance agency for all accidents/incidents and claim management.
- Report and schedule follow-up with drivers on any violations, tickets, accidents, injuries, claims and other incidents.
- Assist in renewal of permits and licenses, such as IFTA, US HUT Permits etc.
- Data entry and maintenance of Fleet maintenance, Accident, Tickets etc
- Responsible for managing CVOR Events and Compliance Monitoring, including driver Hours of Service (HOS) from ELD
- Support other departments to improve driver retention and address driver issues and complaints
- Assist with other Safety and Compliance functions as required up to and including audits
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years transportation management and/ or safety management experience
- Knowledge of Hours or Service and MTO and DOT regulations
- Keen attention to detail, good time management and organizational skills
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to organize work to meet deadlines
**Salary**: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year (To be discussed based on experience)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
