**JOB OPPORTUNITY - ART THERAPY COORDINATOR - FULL-TIME PERMANENT**

**Position Summary**

As the leadership of the Art Therapy program, the Art Therapy Coordinator is responsible for providing, developing and overseeing all art therapy services for Youthdale Treatment Centres. The Coordinator is accountable for monitoring and ensuring the Art Therapy program meets the highest standards and quality of services, which may include further development or adjustment to the overall program.

Working with the clinical staff through the agency, the Coordinator provides integrated assessment, support and consultation to clients and their families to manage psychosocial, emotional, and mental health issues through group and/or individual art therapy.

**Accountability**

Reports directly to Manager, Aftercare

Supervises: Art Therapy Consultants, Art Therapy students.

**Corporate Responsibilities**
- Fosters positive and constructive interpersonal relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, residents, visitors, outside agencies, government officials and related professional associations.
- Maintains and adheres to all relevant legislation.
- Maintains and adheres to organizational policies and procedures.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. Provides assessment, consultation intervention and group therapy in person on a regular basis.
- Abides by all occupational health and safety policies.
- Demonstrates management practices which are consistent with the mission, vision and philosophy of Youthdale Treatment Centres.

**Responsibilities**:
**Clinical** **Responsibilities**

Provides assessment, treatment, consultation, and program development based on the modality of art therapy through Outpatient Services. This may include the following:

- Facilitate and brief individual art therapy sessions for clients referred. This may include clients in Youthdale’s inpatient services, residential programs or clients involved with the Outpatient clinic.
- Facilitate group art therapy sessions as appropriate.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of the youth’s needs while participating in art therapy to ensure the appropriate treatment is provided.
- Consults as appropriate with other members of the client’s circle of care.
- Attends Outpatient Rounds on a weekly basis to provide input and consultation around difficult cases.
- Liaises as appropriate with parents/guardians, other adults and service providers within the client’s life when consent is given.
- Develop new art therapy programs as determined by need.
- Maintaining clinical documentation as per agency policies and professional practice

**Education & Training Responsibilities**

Acts as the main liaison for the Toronto Art Therapy Institute and its students. This may include:

- Liaises with the Toronto Art Therapy Institute to arrange student placements for art therapy in various Youthdale programs
- Develops placement opportunities for art therapy students to expand the reach of art therapy throughout the agency.
- Facilitates interviews and orientation for all new art therapy students, ensuring the proper paperwork is completed prior to the commencement of the placement.
- Provides on-site supervision and ongoing consultation for all art therapy students during their placement period.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving placement time and completing evaluations of all art therapy students at the completion of their placement.
- Addresses any concerns related to any art therapy student and/or their placement, involving all relevant parties.
- Offers educational presentations to Youthdale staff on Art therapy, and the Art therapy services offered at Youthdale

**Art Therapy Supervision**

Provides ongoing support to the Art Therapy program and other programs as required. This may include the following:

- Recruitment and hiring Art Therapy Consultants
- Provides direct supervision and consultation to Art Therapy consultants as required
- Maintains an overview of all caseloads referred to the Art Therapy programs and assigns files to the most appropriate Art Therapist.
- Screens all youth referred for art therapy in consultation with the Intake team and referral source.
- Provides support on difficult cases and system conflicts.
- Immediately flags any serious concerns, crises and/or Serious Occurrences as per Youthdale policies and procedures.

**Administrative Responsibilities**

Responsible for ensuring the completion of administrative tasks for the Art Therapy program. This may include the following:

- Reviews and authorizes monthly invoices for art therapy consultants.
- Monitors the timely completion of all art therapy paperwork by art therapy consultants and students.
- Ensure that accurate and up-to-date records are kept for all work undertaken by the Art Therapy program.
- Coordinates sessions for the art therapy program in consultation with the Intake department, families and other services, as needed.
