This is a new and unique role, and an exciting opportunity for an experienced and energetic, self-starter who is interested in leading the development, implementation, and management of supply chain, purchasing and logistics operations processes and systems.
- Reporting to the Wholesale Manager, this position will be responsible for the following procurement and supply chain activities: _
- Developing and standardizing procurement and logistics practices and systems
- Collaborating with colleagues across departments to identify system needs, process bottlenecks, and to develop unique solutions to enable more timely, efficient, and accountable operations
- Liaising with staff to ensure requirements for procurement support are identified approved and procured in a timely, well-documented and cost-efficient manner
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors
- Participate in the tendering processes to manage tender lists, and manage the dispatch of tender documentation and quotations
- Implement an annual planning process to streamline repetitive procurement of goods to increase competitive tendering and internal processes
- Manage long-term and short-term supplier’s performance and contracts
- Establish and update supplier databases
- Arrange for preferred supplier agreements
- Source new vendors for better quality inventory and negotiate for better prices and prepare related procurement support documents
- Support preparedness planning by developing instructional material, facilitating training, and mentoring staff
- Manage and ensure timely purchase and delivery of company consumables
- Ensure quality standards are met through administration of purchasing agreements
- Develop a proper procurement lead time and supplies that are time driven and definite in cycle
- This role is also responsible for the following logistics related activities: _
- Ensure transport needs are met on time and efficiently managed with sound transport need scheduling so that operations run smoothly
- Ensure efficient utilization of available vehicles and any other transport resources and monitor associated running costs are maintained

What you will need to be successful in this role:

- University Degree or post secondary education
- Five years strategic procurement and logistics experience at a management level
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Experience in the procurement of meat and related product ingredients
- Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial information
- Experience managing budgets and the ability to prepare timely, complete, and accurate reports
- Excellent knowledge of the local regulatory environment, including knowledge of customs clearance and importing processes as it relates to meat
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and mentor team members
- Proven planning, coordination and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Energetic and accountable self-starter
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- Customer focused
- Strong computer skills including MS Word and Excel
- Strong reporting skills including the ability to create and produce monthly procurement reports and on a timely basis
- Strong analytical skills and able to clearly delineate high value and volume procurement
- Strong understanding of supply chain management
- Good understanding of logistics management
