The Coordinator of the Family Violence Project (FVP) is responsible for fostering communication and trust between the partner agencies of the FVP. The Coordinator facilitates the collaboration between the partner agencies and works to reduce systemic barriers that impede the delivery of seamless services to victims of family violence. The Coordinator promotes the work of the FVP in the community and guides follow through on its strategic goals.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Program Development Responsibilities**:
- Facilitates and supports the collaboration between partner agencies of the Family Violence Project.
- Represents the FVP and its strategic objectives on committees such as the Domestic Assault Review Team, the Gender Based Violence Strategy of Waterloo Region, the Ontario Collaborative Response to Family Violence group, and other identified local groups that deal with family violence.
- Develops processes, policies/procedures, forms/tools for the FVP that support seamless delivery of services to victims by the partner agencies of the FVP.
- Proactively develops and maintains relationships with community agencies involved in family violence and gender-based violence work, outside of the Family Violence Project.
- Identifies and acts upon opportunities to promote the Family Violence Project in the community, province and country.
- Initiates and maintains local/ provincial contacts with other organizations/ agencies, such as Family Justice Centers, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) organizations and Gender-based Violence (GBV) organizations, as required.
**Program Operation and Administration**:
- Responds to walk-in client requests for service.
- Works with diverse populations, incorporating knowledge of Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Truth and Reconciliation, and an understanding of the impacts of Intimate Partner Violence within diverse communities.
- Meets with FVP clients for emergency one-to-one appointments, fields telephone inquiries from potential clients and community service providers, including handling complaints and questions.
- Serves as a meeting facilitator for the FVP Steering Committee and FVP Working Committee. Acts as a liaison between both Committees; guides the Working Committee through the strategic objective(s) as determined by the Steering Committee and the current strategic plan.
- Collects and analyzes data from the partner agencies for the purpose of determining the effectiveness of the FVP and completes annual reporting. Provides data and/or trends to partners for informed decision-making.
- Manages the social media accounts and website associated to the Family Violence Project.
- Executes the media strategy created by the Steering Group. Serves as a media spokesperson for the FVP in general matters, where the mandate of an individual partner agency is not engaged.
- Develops and designs presentation materials; and coordinates and participates in the delivery of presentation/ educational initiatives in relation to family violence.
- Collaborates with leaders and clinicians in creating, developing and implementing activities in relation to program operations.
- Plans events that promote the FVP and key topics in IPV around key calendar events.
- Mentors, teaches and encourages a collegial atmosphere for new staff at the Family Violence Project.

- Ensures awareness and maintenance of best practices and standards for agency activities.
- Contributes to overall agency operations by embracing change and innovation ensuring excellence in client services.
**EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE**:
- Successful completion of a Post Graduate Degree (Master’s degree in Social Work). A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Three (3) years’ experience with direct intimate partner violence, victimology or crisis intervention.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining positive relationships between community partners and external stakeholders.
- Must be in good standing with a regulatory body, such as OCSWSSW or CRPO.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations, incorporating knowledge of Equity, Inclusion, Diversity and Truth and Reconciliation, and understanding the impacts of Intimate Partner Violence within diverse communities.
- Communication and interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with external contacts by providing clients with program information and establishing productive relationships with other FVP providers and community/ government resource partners.
- Ingenuity or creativity skills required to resolve complex concerns.
- Sound judgment and effective conflict resolution skills are required to build a rapport with clients and/or stakeholders, manage inquiries, de-escalate difficult interactions and provide information in a tactful and sensitive manner.
