1.0 FTE 29-month contract with the possibility of extension $37.91 per hour for 35 hours a week
Reporting to: Executive Director Position Summary: The Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) of Waterloo Region is a collaborative initiative involving the Waterloo Regional Police Service, Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region, the Crown Attorney’s Office, Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centre and Lutherwood. This collaboration has been running since May of 2016. This unique multi-disciplinary centre offers a child friendly approach to services for children and youth who are victims and witnesses of abuse and crime, beginning when they first tell their story. Although our efforts have always focused on children first, we recognize that children/youth do not function in isolation and are part of an intricate family system including adults in caregiving positions. Sometimes these adults are the direct victim of abuse and need support just as much or more than their children do.
The Partnership Coordinator will work to improve the services already available at the CYAC and explore new community partners to grow the supports we offer to adult victims of crime who are also in a caregiving role to a young person in our community. The Partnership Coordinator will supervise the System Navigator(s) within the Child Witness Centre, provide coordinated response to children/youth and families in the CYAC, work with the Joint Management Team (JMT) of the CYAC and explore other community connections and avenues for programming specific to adult victims of crime who are parents or caregivers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Establish new partnerships and referral sources:
- Work towards expanding partnerships with new community agencies that are not currently involved with the CYAC.
- Seek referral connections for parents or caregivers who are victims of crime in order to provide cohesive wraparound supports.
- Develop and evaluate new supports provided to parents or caregivers who are victims of Intimate Partner Violence. Report on these results as needed throughout the project.
- Take on a primary organizational role within the JMT and larger CYAC
- Serve as a liaison between the multidisciplinary team and System Navigator(s).
- Coordinate and chair monthly JMT team meetings.
- Attend case reviews as needed.
- Coordinate joint training sessions for the multidisciplinary team.
- Make new connections and bring new partners to the JMT.
- Manage the System Navigator(s).
- Assign cases to System Navigator(s) according to CYAC guidelines and CWC practices.
- Provide leadership and direction to System Navigator(s).
- Coordinate the Program Evaluation Process.
- Coordinate ongoing CYAC/CWC data management and evaluation.
- Coordinate evaluation of new partnerships and client referral pathways. o Participate in any program evaluation.
- Child Witness Centre Support
- Contribute to the development of annual goals, strategies, workplans, budgets and overall work of CWC.
- Participate in leadership activities within CWC.
- Provide supervisory and leadership support to other areas of CWC as needed.
Qualifications:
- Masters/Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of direct leadership experience in the non-profit sector.
- Specific experience working in Gender-Based Violence or Intimate Partner Violence will be considered a strong asset.
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office software and experience with data management systems.
- Familiarity with the justice process and victim’s rights.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Persons Check and a Child Welfare Check.
- Valid driver’s licence with a minimum $2m liability coverage and access to vehicle to travel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of privacy legislation and professional boundaries.
- Knowledge of the Canadian judicial system, child welfare system and legislation, anti-oppressive practice, Victim Bill of Rights, privacy legislation, and resources available in the community.
- Demonstrated collaborative and team building skills, analytical, problem-solving, and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practice.
- Commitment to social justice and up to date on evolving policies, trends, legislation, and available support services.
- Experience in providing culturally inclusive services.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Available to work on occasional evenings as required to accommodate client meetings.
- Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
