In partnership with the Canada Summer Jobs program, the Downtown Rideau BIA is seeking a creative, dynamic, and team-oriented Marketing Assistant. This role reports to the Operations Director and will work with the team to support the marketing initiatives of the organization. They will be focused on creating and capturing engaging content through photo and video.
- An energetic, content creator that can produce professional photography to promote downtown businesses, events, and experiences
- A creative storyteller with an outgoing nature
- Pro-active, with excellent time management skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Flexible, able to adapt to shifting priorities and support a variety of projects
- Positive attitude and works well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to produce results with mínimal supervision

**SKILLS**
- Strong photography skills and experience using DSLR cameras, gimbals, and other professional equipment
- Experience working across all major social media platforms and building audiences
- Exceptional knowledge of and familiarity with Rideau Street and downtown Ottawa
- Passion for supporting local and downtown businesses
- Superior oral and written communication abilities
- Strong customer service skills and experience working directly with the public
- Bilingualism is considered an asset

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Creating and capturing content to promote local businesses, events, and experiences.
- Curating and telling stories that highlight the areas key value propositions
- Engaging with Rideau businesses in person on a daily basis
- Tracking upcoming events and promoting them through all channels
- Supporting special projects and initiatives as they arise
- Other duties as assigned

**ELIGIBILITY**
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Act
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
- Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
- Is currently enrolled in a Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications program at a Canadian post-secondary institution
- Is able to fulfill their position in-office, 5 days a week.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

Pay: $16.55-$17.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
