Your Opportunity:
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is responsible for providing and facilitating education, based on adult education principles, for staff within a specific department/program area to ensure that clinical competencies and organizational standards/practices are maintained. The CNE uses the principles of adult learning to assess staff educational and professional development needs, and to plan, implement and evaluate educational initiatives for staff. The CNE facilitates, coordinates, and supports the implementation of education initiatives for orientation, mandatory education, in-service, and continuing education programming; and for changes in policy, procedure, protocols, and technology to promote clinical competence of staff. The CNE objectively monitors, evaluates, and documents the learning process and learning outcomes. The CNE informs and works in collaboration with program/area management and the employee when education sessions have not resulted in the employee meeting the expected outcomes. The CNE collaborates with the management team to develop and implement new policies/procedures and nursing standards, nursing staff development plans, implement new policies/procedures and nursing standards, nursing staff development plans, and training/education session to address specific learning needs. The CNE participates on committee and working group to plan, develop, and implement new clinical policies, procedures, practices and initiatives, and to provide input to broader (regional/site specific) education requirements. The CNE adheres to their professional Code of Ethics and his/her employer’s policies/procedures.

**Required Qualifications**:

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Bachelor degree in Nursing The Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) Health Care Provider - Level C Basic Life Support (CPR) Minimum 5 years of full-time clinical experience in relevant specialty/practice area required Demonstrated ability to engage and build collaborative relationships with staff, physicians, patients and families, leaders, learners and external partners and facilitate group processes. Skilled in retrieval of evidence from a variety of credible sources Demonstrated ability to lead evidence informed practice and the advancement of professional and program development to optimize quality and patient outcomes. Knowledge of program evaluation approaches and outcomes measurements Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and initiative Demonstrated ability to recognize complex problems and seek solutions Demonstrated ability to partner with managers and leaders to implement change Teaching skills in small and large group settings utilizing knowledge of adult learning principles Computer literacy skills essential e.g. MS Office Suite

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Experience in Medicine Nursing Demonstrated clinical leadership especially in the area of nursing specialty practice Change management knowledge and experience e.g. PROSCI Quality improvement methodology e.g. Alberta Improvement Way, green belt certificate
