The instructor position will report to the Manager of the Olson Centre for Health Simulation. This position works collaboratively with program leaders and instructional staff to facilitate simulation scenarios that integrate with program learning outcomes. The instructor is fluent in simulation best practices and multiple modalities facilitating all modalities at the downtown campus and regional sites. The instructor brings an innovative approach and assists the division to decrease placement barriers by leading the development, implementation, and facilitation of using simulation to replace clinical as a priority. The instructor sources out simulation scenarios and recommends these to program leaders. When necessary, the instructor is adept at quickly and efficiently creating quality scenarios. The instructor works collaboratively with the team to maintain the day-to-day operations of the Centre. Being professional and understanding the standards that guide interdisciplinary simulation is paramount to success in this role.

Professional accountability includes: creating and maintaining a safe, confidential learning environment that is conducive to student learning, maintaining currency and related licenses, working collaboratively with interdisciplinary colleagues, participating on instructional and College-wide teams. The instructor contributes to the strong in-person presence at the Olson Centre.

The Instructor position will be responsible for:
**Portfolio Coordination**
- Development, evaluation, facilitation and debriefing of interdisciplinary simulation-based learning experiences
- Confident in debriefing concepts of equity, diversity, inclusion, and antiracism
- Facilitates safe and confidential learning that supports reflective practice
- Assists and collaborates with faculty regarding lab set ups, equipment trouble shooting and the utilization of simulation technology
- Demonstrates required knowledge related to curriculum development using best practice standards of simulation-based education
- Coordinating simulation, collaborating with program areas to implement simulation to fulfill program learning outcomes
- Demonstrates an ability to utilize, develop and learn the use of progressive simulation technology such as virtual simulation games, virtual reality, 360 imaging
- Works directly with program area in design and development of learning outcomes in relation to simulation experiences
- Executes on simulation sessions and experiences or related duties as required
- Role models exemplary customer satisfaction, collaboration and communication skills
- Provides direction and support to instructional assistants

**Priority Initiatives**
- Supports the framework to implement simulation to replace practicum
- Manages priority initiatives within timelines
- Collaborates on communications for students and instructor expectations, timelines, and evaluations

**Student Interaction**
- Through evidence-based debriefing techniques, provides feedback to students on their performance according scenario goals and related outcomes
- Keeps simulation staff and program areas apprised of students’ progress and improvement needs when being supervised in the simulation experience
- Works with students on areas identified by the team as needing improvement
- Attends team meetings related to the simulation lab functioning and maintenance
- Attends Divisional meetings as scheduled
- Refers students to College services as required
- Ability to work with all students a stakeholders while upholding principles of an inclusive culture, working with diversity, and combating inequity within systems

**Olson Centre Maintenance**
- Provides basic technical assistance for equipment used by students and instructors
- Prepares Olson Centre for instruction delivery including the setting up and taking down of equipment as per program requirements
- Provides feedback on program materials and works to prepare material as required
- Provides maintenance or development of simulation scenario manuals and lab resources

**Internal and External Stakeholders**
- Maintains and develops simulation and debriefing training material for staff, students, and standardized participants
- Supports the Olson Centre for Health Simulation Manager in providing tours for President’s Office, Executive, Board of Governors, and their internal or external guests
- Liaises with other post-secondary health simulations for projects, events, or learning activities as delegated

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- Bachelors degree in a specific health related discipline is a professional requirement.
- Current licensure in a health-related field from the respective regulatory body. Needs to be in good standing.
- Current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- 5 years of discipline specific related experience
- 3 years of experience teaching adult learners in
