**Investigator**
We are seeking a dynamic professional to conduct impartial investigations in accordance with the HPA and under the delegated authority of the Complaints Director. This role involves primarily independent work and, on rare occasion, travel throughout Alberta. The workload is based on assigned cases and other responsibilities.
**What you will do**:
**Investigate Complaints**
- Use a case management approach to manage assigned investigations
- Maintain ongoing communication with registrants and complainants, and provide 60-day updates as required
- Interview registrants, complainants and witnesses, as appropriate
- Conduct investigations in accordance with the HPA, Health Information Act, privacy legislation and the CRNA's policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and security of investigation documents and equipment
- Consider and manage risks in all situations, maintain personal safety
**Prepare Investigation Reports**
- Provide impartial documentation of witness interviews
- Collect relevant documents (policies, clinical records, employer documentation) to support information provided by witnesses
- Communicate any issues that arise regarding management of the investigation to the Complaints Director and supervisor
**Support Complaints Director / Associate Complaints Director**
- Communicate conduct processes with complainant and registrant
- Provide updates on investigations to the Complaints Director and/or Associate Complaints Director
- Perform other assigned duties as requested
**Resource Management: Support Professional Conduct**
- Keep abreast of investigation information, resources, equipment, tools, technical and technological developments to ensure investigation capacity is up to date
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the investigation process and experience of the investigated registrant, complainant, witnesses and key partners in the investigation process
- Maintain current documents and reports on SharePoint
**What you possess**:
- Bachelor's degree/diploma in nursing, other health-related field or in another relevant discipline is required
- Minimum 7-9 years of experience in nursing or related field with both staff and management experience preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience conducting investigations is an asset
- Eligible for CRNA registration or regulated by another regulatory college is an asset
- Strong written and oral communication, conflict resolution and interview skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and be flexible in scheduling interviews
- Proficient in virtual meeting platforms such as Teams, Zoom, Webex
- Ability to work remotely
