**Position Summary**
As we embark on one of the largest capital campaigns in the city to support the hospital expansion, the Development Officer will play a crucial role in achieving major gift fundraising and planned giving program objectives. This is a unique opportunity to join an organization poised for growth as we launch one of the largest capital campaigns in the city. Your efforts will catapult our Foundation into a new era of successful fundraising, positioning us for continued success even beyond the campaign. The Development Officer is responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective major and planned giving donors, executing effective solicitation strategies, and stewarding donors throughout the process. A focus will be placed on gifts of $5,000 or greater to support this transformative project.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Major Gifts
- Lead the solicitation of donations of $5,000 and higher from individuals and organizations to support our high-profile capital campaign.
- Develop and execute strategies to identify, research, cultivate, and solicit prospects for major and planned gifts in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer.
- Maintain a fast-paced schedule of face-to-face visits to steward current donors and engage new major donor prospects.
- Conduct prospect identification through wealth screening, community research, and self-selection processes.
- Write individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship letters, proposals, and reports to engage donors in this impactful campaign.
- Manage relationships with prospective donors, identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding these donors throughout the campaign lifecycle.
- Plan and execute a series of donor and prospect-focused events, as well as recognition events celebrating campaign milestones.
- Track all donor interactions in the donor database software.
- Complete timely gift acknowledgments and donor recognition using the donor recognition policy.
- Initiate contacts with potential prospects
- Develop appropriate cultivation strategies
- Move potential donors toward solicitation in an appropriate and timely fashion
- Make solicitations when appropriate
- Maintain stewardship contacts with donors, adhering to the highest ethical standards and conveying sensitivity to donors’ needs during this transformative time for the community
**Planned Giving**
- Cultivate relationships with lawyers, accountants, financial planners, and estate planning professionals to expand planned giving opportunities that can shape the future of healthcare.
- Help expand and manage the estate planning program in the context of this significant capital campaign.
- Identify, research, contact, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective planned giving donors to increase individual planned gifts and grow the overall donor base.
- Work closely with donors and their professional advisors to structure planned gifts appropriately, ensuring their legacy in this once-in-a-generation healthcare project.
**Stewardship**
- Develop stewardship programs to retain donor support, upgrade giving levels, and uncover new gift intentions as we drive this campaign to success.
- Ensure each donor is stewarded according to the Donor Matrix.
- Liaise with the Operations department to ensure efficient processes for generating receipts and letters.
- Collaborate with the marketing department to uncover and share compelling donor and patient testimonials that highlight the life-changing impact of the campaign.
- Build internal staff engagement with the grateful patient recognition presentation.
- Provide donor stewardship content for the Foundation newsletter, keeping our supporters connected to the campaign’s success.
**Other Duties**
- Maintain donor confidentiality and protect Foundation operations by keeping all information confidential.
- Maintain skills and knowledge by attending educational sessions and staying informed of Foundation policies and procedures.
- Act as an ambassador for the Foundation, advocating for the campaign's importance to the community’s future healthcare needs.
**Qualifications**
- 5 years of successful fundraising and direct-solicitation experience.
- Track record of personally closing five
- and six-figure gifts preferred.
- Familiarity with moves management systems.
- Familiarity with planned giving techniques preferred.
- Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to understand the needs and interests of major gift donors and align them with the Foundation’s mission.
- Strong financial literacy to monitor and track financial reports.
- Successful experience in developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
