Learning Specialist Support

The primary purpose of the Learning Specialist position is to support organizational job competency by supporting the creation of online learning content and all aspects of the Learning Management System and instructional design process.
**Major Functions and Responsibilities**
- Support the established strategic direction of Learning Management to ensure it effectively supports the organization's mission, vision and values
- Support, administer and maintain the learning management system (LMS)
- Train and support users of the LMS
- Support Learning Specialists as required
- Participate in the learning development cycle
- Develop and maintain processes for offering, scheduling, tracking and reporting of web based learning, instructor led learning, and other training through the LMS
- Develop and maintain processes for managing the learning content lifecycle
- Create learning content using instructional design principles
- Collaborate with department managers to assess training needs
**Required Skills**:
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels within the organization, including on virtual platforms
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Learning content offering software
- High level of expertise in critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Proven ability in the effective use of time and resources.
- Outstanding customer service orientation using a consultative approach
- Strong editing and proofreading skills
- High disposition for attention to detail
- Ability to advocate for the importance of workplace learning
- Ability to meet tight deadlines while producing a high-quality deliverable
Required Experience
- 3-5 years experience in medical laboratory environment is an asset
- 1-2 years experience in e-Learning content production, graphics design, multimedia design and other web enhancement methods is an asset
- Working knowledge of educational practices including; adult learning, distance/distributed learning, and workplace training is required
- Experience in leading and participating in project management
- Working knowledge of instructional design techniques, e-learning content creation processes and Learning Management Systems preferred
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Diploma or certificate in either instructional design, adult education related field or multi-media, digital media, graphics design or related field is an asset
