**Lead Barista - Position Summary**

Forno Cultura is hiring a Lead Barista to join our newest café project—a refined rooftop space located inside **East Room at 507 King East**, with sweeping views of the east end, an evolving Aperitivo program, and a focus on espresso, pour over coffee, and artisanal food.

This location offers a thoughtful rhythm of service, where design, hospitality, and craft come together. We serve both the East Room community and guests from the surrounding neighbourhood, creating meaningful moments through quality, care, and conversation. From the first espresso in the early hours to the slow pour of wine in the afternoon, this space invites a different pace—one that honours presence, product, and the beauty of good service.

The Lead Barista at Forno Cultura serves as the cornerstone of our coffee and hospitality program, ensuring the delivery of an exceptional guest experience. This role combines expert coffee preparation, team leadership, and a dedication to Forno Cultura’s commitment to artisanal quality and warm hospitality.

The Lead Barista is responsible for maintaining high standards in beverage preparation, fostering a welcoming and professional atmosphere, and mentoring the barista team to uphold Forno Cultura's values and service philosophy. They oversee daily operations of the coffee bar, ensure product quality, and collaborate with management to enhance offerings and maintain efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

**Coffee Preparation & Quality Control**
- Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based beverages, coffee, and teas to Forno Cultura standards.
- Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and quality across all beverages.
- Regularly inspect and calibrate coffee equipment to ensure optimal performance.

**Team Leadership & Training**
- Train, mentor, and motivate barista team members to develop their skills and ensure excellent service.
- Lead by example in demonstrating proper techniques, workflow, and hospitality.
- Conduct regular check-ins with the team to provide feedback and encourage professional growth.

**Customer Service & Hospitality**
- Create a warm, welcoming environment for guests and ensure a memorable experience.
- Address customer feedback, inquiries, and concerns with professionalism and care.

**Operational Oversight**
- Manage daily operations of the coffee bar, including opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure adequate stock of coffee, milk, and other essentials.
- Uphold cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations.

**Menu Innovation & Collaboration**
- Collaborate with management to refine and expand the coffee and beverage menu, incorporating seasonal and artisanal ingredients.
- Introduce and promote new beverages or products to enhance the customer experience.

**Administrative Duties**
- Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with staff scheduling and ensure proper coverage during peak hours.
- Work with management to identify opportunities for improving workflow and customer satisfaction.

Pay: $18.00-$18.50 per hour
