**Overview**
The Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance (IPAA) is a member-driven organization serving professional Indigenous performing artists and arts organizations across Canada. IPAA serves as a collective voice for its members and for Indigenous performing arts in Canada. IPAA provides leadership, support, representation, advocacy, and practical assistance for the national development of Indigenous performing arts.
**Duties**
**Responsibilities**
Office Administration
- Maintaining everyday office operations including answering the phone, taking notes at meetings and filing documents and reports as required.
- Assist the Executive Director with filing reconciling monthly bank statements.
- Assist the Grand Council (Board of Directors) with organizing board meetings, distribution of meeting materials and creation and distribution of minutes.
- Assist in coordinating (and possibly attending) Canada wide events in celebration of IPAA’s 50th Anniversary.
- Be a good ambassador for the organization; maintain a presence at IPAA member & community events.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Promotion
- Assist in maintaining a website, monthly newsletter, develop promotional materials, social media posts, other online strategies and press attention for events in consultation with the Executive Director and Membership Coordinator.
- Manage IPAA’s online drive and gather additional industry resources.
- The Office Administrator will work closely with the Executive Director and Project Coordinator to implement activities in the _Story of IPAA_ workplan.
- Research and capture the history of the organization by gathering documentation and conducting interviews with past leadership.
- Assist in synthesizing the research and findings from gathering and providing them to the document writer.
**Desired Qualifications**
- Previous administration experience.
- Strong scheduling and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
- Qualitative research skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate online tools: WordPress, MailChimp and Microsoft Office, Google workspaces, etc.
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to use independent judgment.
- Knowledge of or interest in learning indigenous protocols and Traditional Knowledge.
- Familiarity with the IPAA and/or the Indigenous performing arts (theatre, music, and/or dance) scene is a strong asset.
- Class G Drivers license and passport to travel an asset.
- Bilingualism (Indigenous languages and/or French) is an asset
