**Location**: Surrey or Kamloops. This is a hybrid position. Most days you will be working remotely with occasional meetings at our Surrey or Kamloops offices as needed.

**Wage**:$25 - $31/hr

**Type**:Permanent position with a 3-month probation period

**Hours**:27.5 hours during office hours per week (Monday-Friday). You will also be on-call to respond to missed check-ins for field staff after office hours Monday-Thursday and will be on-call for fieldwork emergencies one weekend per month. You will receive 10 hours of compensation per week and will be paid for your on-call availability.

**Responsibilities**:
Working closely with all levels of the organization, the **Health and** **Safety Program Administrator** provides health and safety support to projects. S/he/they maintain and enhance the Occupational Health and Safety Program, monitor the lone worker check-in system, and promote a positive safety culture.
- Maintain and continue to develop the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
- Develop safe work practices, educational resources and training materials.
- Enhance content for the safety section of the BC Conservation Foundation website.
- Provide health and safety support and guidance to Project Coordinators and employees.
- Ensure all projects comply with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct employee safety orientations.
- Help employees complete Project Safety Assessments (PSAs) and ensure appropriate safety control measures are in place to minimize the risk of injury.
- Purchase, maintain and inventory safety equipment, including first aid kits, bear spray, satellite communication devices and project-specific gear.
- Send safety equipment to employees and ensure they know how to use it.
- Utilize SafetyLine to monitor fieldwork staff across the province. Use sound judgment to calmly and effectively respond to fieldwork emergencies and missed check-ins.
- Track rental safety gear and SafetyLine usage and communicate with the accounting department.
- Oversee and deliver Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) meetings and take meeting minutes.
- Report workplace injuries and near misses to WorkSafeBC and complete incident investigations.
- Stay current on WorkSafeBC regulations and industry safety initiatives.
- Enhance Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) education and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain a Health and Safety employee recognition program.
- Monitor regional and provincial COVID-19 and communicable disease-related information. Respond to guidance from the provincial health officer during times of elevated risk.
- Assist colleagues on other organizational tasks as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety AND/OR fieldwork experience in remote locations with an environmental background preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in high-stress situations.
- Willing to be available 24 hours a day during designated on-call periods.
- Ability to stay current on workplace safety regulations and ensure compliance.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s licence.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
